Uncomfortable experience from the very beginning. We walked halfway into the restaurant with the waiting staff looking blank eyed at us until we requested a table to which she answered "Anywhere but the window", that made it incredibly awkward for us to find somewhere as most places had been set for more than 2 people and we didn't want to cause a lot of inconvenience. Table service was terrible, we didn't see a drinks menu at all besides a wine list. We were looking forward to two for one cocktails that we had read about online but were never made aware of any other drinks aside from the wine list and a pop up card on our table. We waited over 40 minutes for our main, which was mediocre at best and the creme brulee seemed like it had just been taken out of the fridge. I made the server aware of my allergen requirements, which they confirmed to me, yet they dropped a basket of bread onto our table right next to my setting. The table next to us was a reservation, they waited over an hour for their main and had to request for their table to be cleared, they had still not been served their main by the time we had left. In the end I went to the counter myself to pay for our meal, only to see a member of staff crouched down behind the bar sipping on a hot drink. While I was there I also requested that the table next to us could be cleared as the serving staff who had been asked had not returned. The staff member who took my payment asked me our table number which we were never made aware of and did not offer me my receipt. It almost felt like she was keeping it from me as she scrunched it up when I produced my debit card. I was only able to quickly glance at some of the items on it. I was only given a card receipt which I'm pretty sure had a different total on there. We were never offered any apology for the subpar service that we received, so we were left to assume this is...
Read moreWe were extremely disappointed with our New Year’s Eve experience at Bistro Pierre. We’ve visited before and had enjoyable meals, but this time was a far cry from that. It seemed as though the New Year’s Eve Soirée Tasting Menu was overbooked, and the restaurant was severely understaffed. There was only one staff member working on the bar for a full restaurant!
We arrived on time for our reservation, but it took 25 minutes before anyone acknowledged us and showed us to our table. A large group ahead of us had also been waiting for quite some time.
We decided to add the wine pairing with our meal and asked the waitress if it would be best to order a drink first. She agreed, but by the time we finished our appetiser, our first wine flight and the drinks we’d ordered still hadn’t arrived. The food itself was fine, and the time between courses wasn’t too bad, but we had nearly finished our mains before the next wine flight arrived. I had to ask three times for water for the table. They also ran out of dessert wine and simply offered us the house white as a replacement. When the coffee arrived, it was cold, and there were no Petit Fours which was stated on the menu.
Overall, it was a very unpleasant experience. You could feel the tension among the staff, and it was uncomfortable to witness the other tables complaining and confronting staff around us. Having worked in hospitality for years, and someone who eats out often - I’ve never seen such poorly managed service. I also just feel awful as I promised my partner this would be a great experience rather than doing our usual...
Read moreI recently revisited Bistrot Pierre after a long time and decided to try their Soirée Gastronomique evening, a six-course dining experience priced at just £26.95—an incredible value for money.
As it was my birthday, I had signed up for Club Bistrot Pierre, which gifted me a free bottle of wine. We opted for the red, and it was a lovely addition to the meal. On top of that, the app offered a free bread side, which was absolutely delicious—fresh, hot, and paired with amazing butter that melted perfectly.
The six courses were well-paced and thoughtfully curated. My favourite dish was the Camembert cheese with bread—rich, gooey, and indulgent. The full menu for the evening included: Vegetable tortellini – A light yet flavourful start. Baked Camembert – Absolute perfection with the bread. Cod with potatoes – Cooked beautifully, simple yet satisfying. Eton Mess-inspired dessert – Sweet, airy, and refreshing. Cheese board – A well-balanced selection of cheeses. Hot drink – A comforting end to a great meal (I didn’t take a photo of the tea)
For the quality and variety of food, £26.95 per person felt like an absolute bargain. The service could have been faster, but it was super busy!
The overall experience was fantastic, from the welcoming atmosphere to the thoughtfully crafted menu. I’d highly recommend this evening for anyone looking to enjoy a tasting-style dining experience at a great price.
Looking forward to...
