Maliks — Restaurant in England

Disappointing meal last night. Five of us arrived at the restaurant and ordered poppadoms while waiting for a sixth guest. There was no other diner in the restaurant and yet, every 5 minutes we were asked if ready to order and each time..."No, we are waiting for someone." - it became very annoying.

The food itself was very nice but is noticeably pricey.

Throughout the meal we felt we were an inconvenience and for some reason being rushed. Some of our food was removed before it had been finished. We all felt rather uncomfortable.

There was also a whole debacle for one of our party who wanted to arrange a takeaway. She was not told when it was ready and kept waiting for 45 minutes. When she went to enquire where it was, she was told it had been ready for 20 mins. She expressed disappointment and was told to “Go and sit down”!

The result? Six people who work locally that will not bother choosing Maliks again for our regular curry night.

A further disappointment was finding that a local bar (Baroosh) had a “curry week” with an assortment of curries for £9 each. We all agreed this would have been a more pleasant...

While ordering the Goan fish curry from Marlow Maliks tonight, my partner and I were really disappointed as the dish did not match the description. We expected monkfish but received a mushy, overcooked cod like texture quite different from the usual dense, meaty quality of monkfish - 100% what we received was not monkfish. Upon contacting the restaurant, we encountered rudeness and skepticism, with the staff dismissing our concerns. Notably, a similar issue was raised in a recent Google review just a day before our experience. Despite bringing this to the restaurant's attention, they showed no interest in addressing or resolving the matter and were aggressive and rude to us. After reading the reviews we thought we would try Maliks. Firstly we were told it would be ready in 35 minutes for collection, so we went on time to pay and collect and was told it would only be 5 minutes. 35 minutes later we complained and was told its on its way. After another 10 minutes our order arrived. They obviously only started to cook it once we had paid. We would have paid in advance if they had asked. My daughter had a mixed grill and the chicken was raw, blood red in the middle. We walked back and they refunded the mixed grill and an apology but it should never of happened if they hadn't of rushed our order. They were very quick to take the offending chicken away from us but we have photo evidence of it. Hopefully my daughter won't have food poisoning in the morning.
