I very rarely leave bad reviews, however on this occasion I feel it’s a necessity. The service was okay to start with, up until the end when I asked for the dessert menu. Someone who I can assume was the owner of the establishment came over and very rudely said that she wasn’t happy with the dog on the seat. From the start, our dog was fine and on a blanket and both the waitress and manager walked passed multiple times without saying anything. The manor in which she told us the rule was terrible and not welcoming at all, we were planning to stay for some gins after our meal but promptly left after paying the bill. Saying “you’re not at home now” is not a very good way of portraying how you run your pub, a pub is a public house and therefore you should be made to feel at home - not the opposite. We wouldn’t have minded at the start if when someone walked passed asked us to put the dog on the floor - that would have been absolutely fine. On the food side of things, I had a gammon - it was a nice cut of meat however the plate was dripping with grease. The onion rings were also raw in the inside and over cooked on the outside. I would recommend looking at other eateries in the village which have been lovely throughout our stay here.

Booked here as we were in the area to do the Ingleton Waterfalls Walk. Place is historic and beautfully converted. There is a small customer carpark across from the pub. The venue itself is without fault, as are the staff, who all welcomed and greeted us as if we were returning friends. Three great real ales on, with plenty of other choice for non real ale drinkers. Food, OMG, by far the best pub food I have had, it is beautiful and we were spoilt by the choice of specials on offer. The food itself was simply stunning and the price incredibly reasonable when you consider the quality of the ingredients and the range on offer. Bedrooms (there are only three) but great value for money with everything you need as a traveller. Tea coffe facilities, usb plugs, large shower, extra blankets etc. Nothing was too much trouble for the team here, they really are a welcoming bunch. Yes, there is some traffic noise from the road outside, but the team have done as much as practical to reduce this, double glazing, shutters and we had a great comfortable night's sleep. Go out of your way and support an independent business, the reward on service and quality is certainly noticeable

Called in for a couple of pints around 6pm last week and the previous week no issues, sat outside in the sun. We got hungry around half 6 and after looking inside there was several empty tables and quiet so thought we’d ask. We asked for some food and the response was sorry we only take advanced table bookings only and no walk in people. The place was half empty! There was a table in glass room stacked full of empty plates and drinks and it was left for over 2 hours and and still there when we left. Called in this week too, 10 tables empty several reserved with names and times but half of the folk hadn’t turned up. Asked for food again and same response. No walk in people only booking only! This pub used to packed every night of the week tables rammed with food eaters and people drinking, it was very popular with locals How does a business carry on when you keep turning customers down and their money! It’s bonkers

Myself and my friends had travelled up from Liverpool for a day at ingleton trail and then stopped by here for food. We googled pubs and from what we saw the food looked nice so we came to eat. We walked in and asked for a menu for which the bar staff went back into the kitchen and I heard her say ‘ you’re going to love this’ sarcastically to the chef I assume. I suppose they then gave the go ahead to serve us and so we sat down. It took 15 minutes for someone to take our drinks ordered and then a further 10 minutes to bring them out. We asked one server if we order at the bar for food to which she replied that the staff will come and take our order like they did with the drinks so we was fine with this. Then a very arrogant female server came back out to say that they were now doing a ‘pay upfront’ service to which we now had to go to the bar and order, pay for our food upfront and also the drinks we had ordered work the previous server. Seemed strange to us that they took our drinks orders fine and then suddenly after saying they would take our food order forced us to go the bar and pay upfront. That same server was rude the whole time, rolling her eyes and trying to avoid us as much as possible. The foot itself was mixed. The roast dinner has undercooked broccoli and the meals came out at different times so a lot of us had already eaten before others to avoid the food being cold. And before you ask why we didn’t say anything to the staff it’s because we did not feel as thought we could approach them with an issue and based off these reviews I’m glad we didn’t. My friend also then bought a dessert at the bar and asked if he could bring it outside where we were sat and the same server replied to ‘ I’m not bothered what you do with it you’ve already paid now’ the arrogance of the staff and how unwelcome we felt you’d think it was a McDonald’s but had the prices of a mid range restaurant. Definitely won’t be returning and will be advising future people who visit the ingleton attraction ...

Unfortunately, and unusually, we had a bad experience with friends here last night. Having previously visited Mason’s several times in the past, we were excited to bring our friends here for some good hearty food after our long walk; we were left sorely disappointed when our Sunday roast took over an hour to arrive after ordering, and upon arrival the potatoes were still cold and solid in the middle, the wedge of carrot and parsnip rock hard, and the Yorkshire puddings still gooey. Having seen previous reviews, I am extremely jealous of the Sunday dinner other’s have had in comparison to the one I was served.

My partners burger arrived looking sordidly grey and sandwiched between what could only be described as two Warburton thins, and the advertised “home made relish” was actually just a deceptive serving of the side salad tucked underneath the top piece of bread. The pork in one of the two Sunday dinners we ordered was cooked within an inch of its life and was inedible, and my friends fish and chips were served pale and in semi-cooked batter. The staff were apologetic for the delay in serving our food, however were very clearly busy with setting up for the karaoke event they were hosting that Sunday afternoon. Upon closer inspection, we suspected the chap hosting the karaoke might have also been the chap cooking our dinner and was trying to do two things at once.

The music playlist prior to this turn of events was 10/10 and could not be faulted, and made for an enjoyable atmosphere. However this was short lived as we were approached by a rather confused local trying to show us pictures of his German knife.

The staff that work here are very pleasant and welcoming, and as mentioned at the beginning this was an unusual experience in comparison to previous visits; however, this is not the only case of a bad occurrence here recently as other family members have also had a similar problem and wonder if it has possibly...

We have been coming to the Masons Arms over many years as we have had a caravan at Kirkby Lonsdale for over 40 years and have seen the pub ran by numerous owners but never have we experienced anything like we did this Saturday 18/03/23.

We had invited family up who had travelled a long way to get to us so as a treat we booked a table at the masons for 7:45pm. We arrived unfortunately just before 8pm which although late we didn’t think to much of it as it was just over 10 minutes late. When we said we had booked a table the member of staff just told us the table is there but we probably won’t be able to eat so I reminded her we where only just over 10 minutes late so she decided to correct me and said, “well actually you are 15 minutes late”. So she went to enquire about this and came back and said we couldn’t eat now we were too late. Now correct me if I’m wrong if we had arrived dead on 7:45pm we would have probably spent 5 minutes getting seated, then we would have been asked if we would like drinks so would have waited for them then at this point handed menus to look through then eventually asked for our order which I’m guessing would have taken at least 20 minutes maybe more taking us way after 8pm So why were we so rudely sent on our way ?? Was a bit embarrassing as we had recommended them highly to the our family who was with us and this happened. Very unprofessional really we could have at least been given the option if we order immediately we would be ok or at least warmed when booking that would have to be absolutely on time but none of this happened so they lost the custom of all four of us. Needless to say none of us will be returning to the masons arms after...
