Take a deep breath because this is gonna be a lengthy one: Anyone who knows me knows I will happily try anything and make it my goal to try everything yet despite being close to a lot of Chinese people I had never been out for hot pot just had it at home, probably because it got popular and everywhere wanted to charge stupid prices for it, not this place. So we walk in, we being me and my friend who just seemed to mentally crash like actually forgot how to be a functioning human being. I should have asked for the lady's name because she was so sweet and lovely you know who you are this was literally yesterday evening. She asks if we've been there before (we hadn't but I knew damn well I was gonna fill a basket for hot pot to my hearts content) my friend stared at the menu for a while was asked if they knew what they wanted yet just stared blankly and im like dude its a yes no question do you know what you want yet no responde, total Zombie. Eventually I get up and start filling my basket and the whole time shes so so nice about my friend being completely utterly lost and my friends just kind of hovering, no basket or anything just kind of near me so I'm like are you going to order something or grab a basket and they still dont know. Eventually she comes back and she grabs them a basket and starts asking what they like, Eventually, tada a basket is built!! She was so so sweet bless her again massive props to her. Took our stuff to the till and I actually managed to get mine pretty bang on to the reccomended 600 grams which cost me £25 including my tea which btw I had not been able to get my hands on JDB tea since a korean restaurant I love stopped selling them so I grabbed it immediately and she asked me if I knew what it was which like fair enough haha. So price is great im excited here's everything I got for £25; my tea, two lobster balls, squid tentacles, two cat paw shaped shrimps, a large prawn, beef rolls, a handful of their diced beef, two sausages, two slices of luncheon, noodles, a fried egg, tofu, teokbokki, some enoki mushrooms, some pak choi, some Chinese leaf and probably something im forgetting. I'd say that was pretty damn worth it. I had the ox broth with a medium spice level it was tastey with a nice warmth to it but would definitely make someone who doesn't often eat Spicy cry. As for my dipping sauce if youre going beef and chicken heavy then I'd reccomend some minced garlic, oyster sauce, Soy sauce and spring onions for a sweet but umami flavour that goes incredibly well with those meats. As for the rest of the stuff on offer you have plenty to chose from, chicken gizzards, other mushrooms and lettuce, lamb rolls, tripe, every kind of noodle etc theres a brilliantly wide selection. Very very happy with the food and they have large takeout tubs on hand ready for those leftovers (noodles are filling okay I couldn't finish them after all that). As we left the lady was no where near us but if you've ever met a Chinese person working at a food establishment they will always make sure to say goodbye to everyone so I really slowly opened the door to leave and turned and tada there she is waving goodbye all cheery. Absolute 10/10. Staff: absolutely brilliant Food: absolutely brilliant, lots of variety, good for dietary requirements and choices too. Cleanliness: absolutely brilliant, staff regularly come over to the fridges and change out ingredients so everything is fresh. Absolutely will be back this place is so good it makes me feel like im cheating on...
Read moreFirst time having a Chinese hot pot - I very much enjoyed eating here.
The setup is to choose your ingredients, which are weighed - minimum 300g - and then choose the broth and then wait!
The pots come out bubbling hot, and ideally, you need 5 minutes. Wait for all to cool down.
There is a wealth of choice of ingredients - meat, seafood, veggies, noodles, and other items that you can add.
Then you add toppings in bowls when the pot arrives. Chilli, sesame oil, soy sauce, spring onion, satay, and mined garlic among the toppings.
Service was really fast and friendly.
I went for the hot 🔥 broth and really rated the heat, which was not over the top.
Noodles I went for were the wide ones and I was glad, and these were silky and voluptuous.
Restaurant is very near High Cross and parking.
This is a very novel and fun way to eat and I think you need to come hungry though!
Thanks for the nice...
Read moreThis is DEFINITELY one of my new favourite spots to eat in Leicester it is SO delicious.
This is a slightly different concept of hot pot in which you go the massive selection of meats, vegetables, noodles, and seafood in the fridge (minimum 300g), then go select your broth and wait for you bowl to be cooked! I got the sour and spicy golden soup broth which was AMAZING - there were the most incredible flavours I definitely recommend! I was invited but I honeslty cannot recommend this enough!!!!
Additionally, the fact that you can takeaway your food (in high quality boxes and bags) is so handy as this basically became a whole other meal for dinner the next day!
A shoutout to the staff who are so lovely and gave insightful knowledge and tips to help us while we chose!
