Little French Franks — Restaurant in England

I stopped in for a sausage in a baguette. The young lady behind the counter told me that they were out of sausages and asked if I'd like to try an alternative. Not really fancying anything else, I'd made up my mind I wanted a sausage, I settled for just a mug of tea, which, I took to a table outside and sat down to watch the world go by. A few minutes later, the young lady appeared at my table with a massive sausage roll and informed me that, since it was nearly closing time, it would simply be thrown out and that I could have it for free! Went in to order 2 paninis and 2 sausage rolls as a treat for the kids. The member of staff was very rude and seemed visibly disgusted by my order (chicken mayo, crispy bacon with cheese), pulling a face and rolling her eyes at me. I'm not sure what's particularly offensive about my selection? While waiting, I saw a second member of staff exit the kitchen to pet a dog and then return to handling food without washing hands.
