A very badly run pub. A manager took over serving a member of my group from another staff and began treating her rudely when there were issues with payment. Although the message on their eftpos machine indicated it was more an issue with their machine he embarrassed her and made her feel awkward in front of many other staff and customers of the pub. After having enough our group member told him she no longer wanted the drink and returned to us where she explained to the group how she was treated, the group reacted as expected talking and disagreeing with this attitude to a customer before moving on. Another staff member overheard part of a conversation and reported this to the manager stating that the person directly involved from our group had a complaint to make directly to the manager. When the manager came over he talked to her she tried to dismiss and move on and when he did walk away she said quite simply 'bye'. The manager turned right back around and said you are being very rude and you must leave immediately. From here things moved south very quickly when he stood in the middle of the pub and argued over a pint of beer, 'rude' behaviour and kicking us out. My partner and I whom at this point hadn't been involved and watched on in shock that this now argument should be occurring, interrupted and asked from a customer service point of view should this be happening and if it was an effective use of his time to be there. We were told we were no longer going to be served drinks, which so be it but we still had at least half a pint which they proceeded to poor into a plastic cup and move us out, not before the manager gave us the middle finger on our way out. Now since recording this in reviews on Facebook they have disabled our right to reply or comment further and written their own response naturally dismissing and undermining their own behaviour. I hope to spread the word as I have heard from other locals and seen many more negative reviews that I believe there are a lot more worthy pubs to enjoy and give your...
Read moreGreat place to have a laugh, Dee jay was mint and shared my love for drum and bass however if you see a larger sized woman with blonde hair half shaved don’t brush past her or give try to give her a very well intended and assumed to be consensual soft hug by means of congratulations for singing a song on karaoke as it may well result in you being removed and the police knocking on your mates hotel door shortly after…. Fortunately I was there to assure him he did nothing wrong but the next unfortunate gentleman might not be so lucky and could end up in jail for who knows what crazy accusation! Great place though and if allowed would...
Read moreFirst time in the Isle of Wight, came for the weekend and found this absolute gem. Welcoming, friendly, warm, attentive staff. Plenty of seating and tables inside and out, every drink myself and my party asked for, they had and we are quite a varied bunch, some might say awkward but nothing was too much trouble for the Vectis Tavern. Great location and they even had ghd's in the ladies toilet!!!! Felt very comfortable here and if I come back to the Isle of Wight in the future, this will be top of my...
