My reviews are based on personal experience and despite the food being tasty, I did not feel welcome here. I had 2 hours to kill before needing to head to the train station, and wanted to spend it in a coffee shop. Walked in, guy looked at me and greeted then went back to what he ws doing. Another lady came out the toilet and didn't say anything to me. I then had to ask the guy if there was seating for 1, he said yes. I then walked around trying to find an adequate seat. The place is quite small with possibly 5 areas max to eat. I had to ask where the menus were, and he just pointed in the direction of them. But it's not like they are in a place you can see them right away. He then said to order at the bar when ready. I ordered a smoothie and a breakfast wrap. Even that, I didn't know who to order with and had to ask if it was "ok" to order with him. Other people who ordered after me were getting their drinks first. I then got the wrap placed in front of me. And then spent about 5min looking around like an idiot to try get someone to tell me where my drink was. They were all too busy having a conversation with other customers. Eventually another lady came and put the drink on my table. The food was quite tasty, I do have to say that. A storm had begun, and I was seated by the door due to lack of space to eat in. The one waitress then went out to get the plate from the outside seating and left the door wide open on me and my food, knowing it was cold. I'm not sure if it was due to skin color or what, as they seemed very ok with all the other fair skinned guests in the restaurant. I was looking for somewhere to just sit and eat and have a few drinks (non alcoholic) at a slow pace and then read till I had to catch my train. But I ended up leaving 45 min after I arrived because I really ws made to feel I shouldn't be there. If I had to sit there longer, they would probably ask me to leave. I don't understand how all 3 of them were just too busy to actually see to me as a customer. Yes there were other customers, but they were being acknowledged. They didn't have to go ask for a menu or a seat. They were served. No one asked if the food was OK or anything. So sadly, 3 stars because the experience was awful on most parts, except the food tasting nice. It could do with a little...
Read moreWe were waiting 45 minutes for egg on toast. No mention of wait tine for food if sit in. People were here after us and served first, mainly the takeaway orders for people who obviously know that takeaway gets priority(said by their waitress). If we had known beforehand, we would have done the same ordered takeaway and sat there anyway. And finally, when we got a refund after complaining of 45 MINUTES WAITING, whilst we were putting our motorbike jackets on, food finally arrived, when we were leaving the table. Little bit of attention for this detail, ladies telling people takeaways are quicker so you don't waste people's time. In answer to reduce from the 3 to 2 stars: Sometimes, the reviews are there to improve your business, not everyone have to be happy when they have their day impacted by a poor service. You seem a bit sour when you get fewer stars than you wish for. Instead of being so agressive on your reply which makes the service even poorer(the reason I decreased the stars), try to think about ways to improve your service and may give a thought that maybe your staff were not completely truthful when they have described how the situation really happened to you( I can assure you, we were not told there was a wait for the food, otherwise we wouldn't have stayed) and also, if you were a customer, how would you feel if it had happened to you, disturbing your plans...

Nalu Café is a true hidden gem — the kind of place you want to keep to yourself but can’t help raving about!
I had the brekkie wrap and was seriously impressed — a delicious mix of scrambled eggs, mushrooms, avocado, and cheese; all brought together with what I can only describe as a magic blend of spices. My partner went for the French toast with banana which really delivered with great flavours. Perfectly indulgent.
Add to that the welcoming staff, a sunny outdoor seating spot, proper delicious coffee, and the fact that they’re open 7 days a week (a rarity in Newquay!) — and you've got yourself a must-visit café.
Highly recommend — we’ll...
