I came across this restaurant while googling places to eat seafood in Newquay. As it is a smaller restaurant, it is best to book. We booked about a week in advance for the bank holiday weekend. There was only the option to book up to 6 people online, so we had to call into book for 8. Luckily they had availability at 6pm as we said we would be out by 8pm. I think we finished at 7pm because we were starving from the activities from the morning. There was a variety of specials on the board next to the kitchen. One of our party members tried the lobster tagliatelle and it was so nice that we booked to come again the following night to have this dish. There is outdoor seating available, but as it was a wet day, we were given a seat inside. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Food portions were good, we were so full that we popped down the beach for a walk. We tried the trio fish, the thing about this dish, I would have enjoyed it more if the fish was grilled and there was a sauce. The vegetables were a bit bland, so a sauce would have been nice. It was a very biiiiig portion! We also tried the fish chowder, this was very flavourful and it came in two sizes. Luckily we ordered the smaller size to share with my partner, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to finish it! We also loved the seafood mariniere, there was so much seafood that it could be shared with another person. The sauce it came with was good for dipping with bread. My 11 year old absolutely loved the seafood mariniere and lobster linguine! I would have loved to try some desserts, but we were just too full of seafood on both occasions! This was definitely a good find and if I can manage the 7 hour drive back to Cornwall, I would pop in for another visit!

Had a quick dinner earlier and the overall experience was pleasant. Two adults and a baby went straight to main dishes costed c.£80. The seafood mariniere was come with homemade lavender foccacia (although the new waitress said not coming with anything). Husband had red wine stew beef and another portion of lavender foccacia. Baby had beef bolognese ,mind you the noodle is not spaghetti but a kind of blue dragon medium egg noodles. The garlic breads was overpowering with salt. Seafood mariniere was only 3.5 stars out of 5. As we by the seaside you would have thought seafood would be not stingy and super fresh. Unfortunately the brown crab claw has no meat not like what you would imagine a claw meat slide out from shell. Taste of it was unfresh, two prawns with shells and heads, it meats were not crunchy, fresh and suspected were used frozen prawns. Fish was poached in sauce instead of menu says Grilled fillet fish. The white wine butter sauce was slightly salty. However I cleaned the bowl, so if you asked was it 5 out of 5, it wasnt, but it is above average than uk seafood restaurant, yes it is. Lemon meringue pie was lovely. Another negative point was pilsner head too much, room dim light was overheated above head. Services were attentive.

I've taken the time to write this review because I believe it's worth my time and effort. Firstly we were a walk in of 8. I was poliletly greeted at the door by a gentleman who was very welcoming. He managed to arrange a table of 8 for us. The space is fairly small but also ample room not to feel cramped which is good. Let's get to the meat (or fish) of it. The food was perfect! I had the special which was a king prawn taglitelle whith shallots, chilli and white wine & a side order of garlic bread. Wow simply; Wow! We all enjoyed our meals. My brother who had a burger almost had s cow inside a bun it was that big. Others had fillet steak which was cooked beautifully and also the seafood mariene which was a combination of a few things. We were a stag do and we had intended to go to pizza express over the road from our hotel. I'm glad they turned us away. We gave tips because we were so well looked after. Don't be shy. Try this place and as ex-chef myself I cant recommend this place enough. Yet again thanks again for the lovely meal!!

The first thing I noticed when we walked in was how immediately friendly and attentive the staff were. The atmosphere was very friendly and warming. I run a very busy retail business and I train all my staff to smile and speak to guests when they make eye contact. This was very evident immediately in this great little hidden gem of a restaurant. The selection on the menu is not to complicated which is a great sign of a restaurant doing the same dishes perfectly. My wife and I both ordered the special of fish cowder, which was genuinely one of the best I've eaten. No additional seasoning was required, which is common place with that dish, and the generous chunks of fish were very soft and flavourful. Served with some very nice sourdough gooey bread that was perfect for swatting up the remnants in the bowl. For Main course, my wife had the slow cooked beef with creamy garlic mash. She absolutely loved it and said that the mash was unbelievably nice. I had the 10oz Sirloin, and I asked for rare. In my experience, a lot of chefs always overcook a rare steak. This was absolutely perfect. The diane sauce on the side was also excellent. Creamy and packed full of flavour. Because those two dishes were so good and so generous in portion. We couldn't fit in a pud. I've never seen my wife NOT ORDER a pud. Wow. I love to see small family run business doing well. It is a true little hidden gem in Newquay. Next time we visit Newquay, we will definitely revisit. My only advice is, get a bigger and more prominent place because with simple yet top quality food like that, which is well priced, you'll fill the place easy. Thank you Mr and Mrs Blake. Date of...

We must have been visiting on a bad day, judging by the past reviews or people are just happy with overpriced, overcooked poor produce. I really dislike being negative but £175 for some very poor food & a £10 bottle of wine charged at £34!

I had scallops in Parsley butter which tasted like Summer County Margarine with its illuminous yellow colour & margarine flavour which over powered the 3 tiny bay scallops all served in a single shell. The Lavender Bread was dense, poorly mixed and had flour deposits throughout.

My son had the Calamari which was 4 little rings with garlic mayo & lots of salad, My other son had 4 Halloumi Fries with Sweet chilli dip & lots of salad - just not value for money.

The main courses consisted of over cooked unseasoned fish, overcooked prawns, overcooked vegetables, broccoli, carrots & cauliflower were so overcooked & discoloured. I had to eat the fish with a spoon as it was all so overcooked it just flaked & fell off my fork.

My son had a sirloin which was a run of the meal bit of beef, nothing special about it at all, however this was cooked well to medium rare, just tough & chewy because of the choice of quality.

We were told that we could only be fitted in from 20:00 as they were fully booked, when we got the the restaurant was quiet, loads of free tables & no atmosphere, Chefs left around 21:15 & the aircon came on really cold, im sure to push us & the last table out! We skipped dessert & coffee because we felt uncomfortable being here in the cold.

Service was good just let down by the food & atmosphere....
