Where do I begin, both myself and my mum walk with sticks, and upon booking I had read a few reviews and was concerned about the hike down to village complex, I rung the complex and the lady I spoke to reassured me that although it isn’t situated in a great place for disabled people they would do there up most to get us up and down the cliff with our luggage and assist us where needed. |Upon arriving we couldn’t find the entrance to get down the cliff, we asked a few locals and they knew where the steps was but was unsure where cars drove down. It was not clearly sign posted and we found out that we had to turn and drive on the public footpath at the public crossing.| The drive down was something else it was only wide enough for one car but the public was also walking up and down in droves with big trolleys. Most of them was rude and would not give way to cars, which I found extremely dangerous as driving down was bad enough never mind reversing back up the cliff edge to accommodate people with trolleys. There should be some kind of traffic light system that shows there is someone on their way up/down so not to attempt it until the lights change|We had booked a suite which cost just short of 2k for 4 nights. Upon arrival we had to park on the main car park and hike down the cliff edge, as the parking space we were issued was too dangerous to drive down to. I was met in reception by an oldish guy who gave me the key and a little piece of card which I thought just came with the key and had the room number on. |He shown us to our room but not once did he offer to take the trolley that he could clearly see I was struggling with as I was pulling a trolley with our cases in and my mum was pushing a pram with the dogs in as we have a anxious pup so we put him in a pram where there could be a lot of people, we both also had walking sticks with us as well so he could clearly see we was struggling. |The room itself was stunning and exactly what we expected. The views were breathtaking and relaxed down for the night with our two fur boys. |When booking it did not state that the suites had people above and even looking at the pictures it was very deceiving. The families above was very active throughout the day and night, moving furniture about constantly by dragging them on the floors which sounded like thunder as you can expect my dogs was very unsettled by this so was barking to protect us. My mum said we should complain but I said they was also on there holidays and there was nothing that could be done as there was no where else to move us to as the complex was showing fully booked in the website. |The morning after arriving I went down to the restaurant and asked if we could have breakfast delivered as my pup was still anxious and I didn’t want to subject him to any more stress by taking him into a restaurant full of people. They were very accommodating and brought breakfast daily to our room. The breakfast was gorgeous and very well presented and the staff were super helpful. |On the 2nd day I received a email from a lady called Sarah stating that some one had complained about my dogs barking constantly and that I needed to not leave them alone in my room as you can imagine I was very upset and angered by this as I had took every step in order to try and keep them calm and I would NEVER leave my dogs alone in a palace they are not familiar with. I emailed back very angry as I now felt like I couldn’t let them out in the garden incase they barked and I felt like we needed to stay off the complex in the daily. We was also told the dogs was not allowed on the beach between 9-6 during summer months before we went which I was ok with as i thought during August it would be too hot anyway to be out with them at this time. But this was not the case for other guests. Every day there was dogs on the beach during the day not even in their leads and we took video evidence to prove this. Upon speaking to our neighbour next door she also said they had had a complaint about her dogs ha barking and she was also annoyed about the amount of noise by the people above scrapping their chairs and moving around like a herd of elephants and also by the fact people was walking their dogs in the beach during permitted times. |I did bring up the noise issues with Sarah but then she said it was not a massive issue the dogs barking it was just a gentle reminder not to leave them in their room alone which was not the case at all. |This is on the internet as a DOG FRIENDLY hotel which to me was not the case. YES they give you a doggy welcome pack up on arrival YES they allow them into their restaurant and onto the beach between certain times but the main issue was they aren’t happy if your dogs react bark to people who are also on there holiday and making a lot of noise or if your dogs are doing what they are meant to do by protecting you if they think you are under threat. |I have been to many doggy friendly resorts which have been a fraction of the price but have been so accommodating and helpful towards us. So before booking this resort as stunning as it is I just wanted you to be made aware of the issues that we accured whilst there as I felt completely anxious and was so upset throughout the holiday by the way we was treated. I am never one to complain and when I say this complex was beautiful it is even better than the pictures, but as for the other issues especially the drive down and also the dog issues I would never recommend this complex to anyone who has a dog that reacts to noises or to anyone with a disability. |Also the morning that we left I found that little piece of card given to me at the reception upon arrival which I thought was just a piece of card with our room number on only to find it was two free cocktails voucher. I had purchase cocktails durning my stay and took them to the room. If only had the man who gave me the voucher had just given it a little mention I would have used them. Again courtesy goes along way. |So if anyone is going to the resort and would like my two free cocktails feel free to comment your email and I will post it over to you free of charge so at least someone can make use of...

Read moreWe tacked a few days here onto the end of a fortnight on Cayo Levantado and, to be honest, thanks to the glorious UK weather, were hard-pushed afterwards to choose which destination we loved the most!||The resort title on here doesn’t do this place justice. It’s not just ‘beach shacks’; it now comprises a beautiful, newly-built boutique beach hotel with excellent bar & restaurant and quirky beach houses in various sizes, on a lovely private beach. We stayed in a Beach House, around twice the size of the Beach Cabins, and really liked the fact that they had a private decked area at the front of each one, with steamer chairs overlooking the beach, screened from the other beach houses by privacy panels. However, having sneaked a peek into the smaller cabins, they are more than adequate accommodation for two, with big bed, ensuite, front terrace with deckchairs and each additionally with a private roped-off area with loungers on the beach. Or if you’d rather stay in the main hotel than get sand between your toes, the rooms are exquisite and beautifully decorated colonial-style, a theme carried through the whole resort.||The only two minor negatives I can think of to mention was that the bathrobes were teeny (size 10-12?) and didn’t meet in the middle on either of us! 😆 - an essential, given that all doors & windows are mere feet from the beach) - so if you’re an average-sized woman, or a modest man, take your own with you. Also the temperature of the water from the hot tap on the ensuite sink was scalding and could probably do with being turned down to avoid guests burning themselves.||The staff are great; friendly and very helpful, kindly arranging taxis for us back from Jamie’s in Watergate Beach and Rick Stein’s in Padstow (we would highly recommend the trip by bus out to Padstow - a definite experience!) We also ate in the resort’s Colonial restaurant several times, including one evening meal, and the dishes (and cocktails!) are excellent. The whole lobster was the best we’ve had and cooked to perfection, as was the curried monkfish, and the oysters were divine. The continental breakfast was limited but adequate; the addition of some cold meats, cheese and a fruit platter would improve it no end (but I guess would also increase the price); the cooked breakfast is huge!||The beach is lovely, and not as busy as others in the area due to the parking there being solely for the resort’s guests. We’re neither surfers nor sea-goers, but it’s great for people-watching and, when the tide is out, you can wander for hours along the beach from Tolcarne to several beaches along, enjoying the rock formations, small caves and rockpools, safe in the knowledge that the ever-present lifeguard patrols (at least while we were there) will prevent you becoming cut off by the returning tide. There is also the coastal path running along the top of the cliffs, which looks amazing, but sadly which we ran out of time to explore at length. But, no matter, we will walk it next time, as we will be going back to Tolcarne as soon as we...
