Great food, awful service.

The negatives!

Upon arriving we had a very cold greating by all member of staff, we went to the bar - they said "sit anywhere" even tho we had booked a table - which i though was unprofessional.

Once seated we were undesided whether to get alcohol or not, so requested more time to deside what to drink. The staff seamed anoyed at being sent away. To make matters worse they didnt return to the table. When choosing our food the waiters took ages to order, having to call them to the table even though there was only 5 tables in on a Monday night! The waiting staff had very bad control over the timing of the tables. During the meal, the waiter saw I was low on my drink so asked if i wanted another. This was great, however this second drink never arrived (thankfully it wasnt on the bill). The staff uniform was also rather casual, adding to the unprofessionalism shown by the staff.

Food was extreamly nice, arrived hot and quickly. Compliments to the Cheffs. I will deffinately return for the food as they know what they are doing in the kitchen.The presentation of the food was also very good, despite being served on a roof slate which was strange to eat off. The ambience was very nice and comfortable but there was no music, this is a simple fix, I was with great company so it didn't really matter but I would have made it perfect. To include all the positives about evening the mint served with the bill was a nice touch and was nice and strong.

I stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is lovely, comfortable and very clean with nice smell. The staff are polite and very friendly. 🙏❤️ However, I was very disappointed with the Italian restaurant as I was looking forward to eating there. I love Italian food and go to Italy a lot as my partner is from Sardinia. I ordered 2x soup and lasagna and 2 plates of different pasta for me and my family. The food was so salty we couldn’t eat it. The pasta was over cooked. It was very mushy. I had one spoon and left everything. It was impossible to eat it! When the owner asked me if everything was ok I discreetly told him the food is to salty to eat, and I expected he change our plates. The only thing he said was oh, I am sorry and that was it. I don’t complain as it’s not in my nature, however, the owner does not know how to deal with a customer in this case as he charged us for all the food and never even suggested to bring us new plate. As I said I could have made a seen but I always tried to give credit to others. In this case he need it to be told off so maybe he would understand fo4 the next time. I was looking forward eating there for the 3 days but I will never go there again. Now living in Hull I will definitely look for new Italian restaurant in town. Heard good things about Osteria and wanted to check it out for a while and so glad I finally got around to it. Staff were very welcoming and helpful even just finding our friends, didn't expect you to order immediately gave us 5 minutes to get settled in. They took our drinks order and apologize for it taking so long, we waited less than 5 mins in a busy restaurant on a Friday night, not a problem we were busy talking anyway. Once we ordered food our starters came fairly quick and were fantastic, ideal portion sizes, full of flavour and well cooked, the calamari was just right and our friend lived his garlic prawns. Table was cleared quickly and mains brought out maybe 10-15 mins later. Again portions were generous and the food itself was fantastic again, just like the starters. Cost wise I would say its value for money, the food is so much better than big brand Italian food chains, this is made from scratch authentic Italian food not microwaved imitation food. All in we spent around £35 per person which included drinks. I was enjoying the food so much I didn't get any pics of it. The restaurant is clean and tidy, polite, attentive and friendly staff and a great atmosphere, not quiet but not overly busy. If your ever in the area I would highly recommend...
