As much as I recommend the food, I was very disappointed with the service we received. One of our starters was ordered wrong but quickly rectified when pointed out and the waitress couldn't be more apologetic about it. The main issue came when after our starters an older gentleman asked if we wanted anymore drinks, we ordered the drinks with him and then he just wandered off. Less than 10 minutes later, our mains came and we still had no drinks and made the waitress aware that we had ordered them with the older gentleman. Another 10 minutes or so passes and still no drinks. I called over a waiter that was stood by the bar with 4 others just chatting and mentioned again about our drinks. He went to go check and then the older gentleman came out and very rudely brought over and poured us some water without saying a word or apology and gave my partner her beer, then walked off. We'd both also ordered medium steaks and my partners steak was very much rare and not medium, however, we didn't make them aware of this because of how they had been with our drinks. Once we'd finished our main course, the older gentleman came over again to clear our plates and we asked if there was any seating available upstairs to which he said he would check. Another 10 minutes pass, we ask a waitress for our bill and the older gentleman comes back downstairs but doesn't tell us about the upstairs seating. When we asked for our bill, this had to be amended due to the issue with the starter and then they had also put on for a third beer that my partner had not received. We raised this with the waitress, who did apologise and gave us the extra beer we were being charged for and amended our bill to include an additional drink that we were ordering. The waitress we had was lovely and we couldn't really fault her but the older gentleman, whilst first off seemed very nice, soon turned and was rude, offhandish and lacking on his people skills. The view upstairs is beautiful though and worth a try. Unfortunately, we won't be returning because even though the food was nice, the service was lacking and the restaurant where we were sat was not busy to be able to justify the lack of service we received. I'm glad we went but we've been treated better in a chain pub, which is a shame and a...

I had high expectations for One Steakhouse in Hull, but our Valentine’s set menu experience at £100 per person was a huge letdown.
The waiting time between dishes was ridiculously long—around 30-40 minutes. When the lobster arrived, it was cold. I pointed this out to the waitress, who picked it up with her hands and offered to have it reheated. I was disgusted and refused, requesting a fresh one instead. The steak, to be fair, was cooked perfectly and tasted great, but the vegetables were stone cold. Again, they offered to reheat them, only to return them steaming hot like they had just been microwaved. For £100 per person, the portion sizes were also disappointing.
Service was abysmal. Not a single staff member came to ask if we wanted drinks, so I had to go to the bar myself. Despite plenty of young staff hanging around, no one seemed attentive. When our main course sharing board arrived, the waitress wasn’t even sure if it was ours or the table next to us. She then panicked, tried to move things around, and left without giving us plates—we had to ask for them.
Dessert was another disaster. Salted caramel cheesecake arrived with no cutlery, so I had to get someone’s attention. We were given just one spoon, so I asked for a fork as well. The waitress brought one fork, completely ignoring my partner. The cheesecake itself was ice cold, still frozen in the center—something I'd expect from a budget chain, not a high-end steakhouse.
When we raised our concerns with the manager, we were offered a free drink on the rooftop terrace, which had a nice atmosphere. But honestly, after spending £250 (£100 deposit plus £150 on drinks), I left feeling completely ripped off. To make matters worse, I was ill the following day, and by Sunday, my partner was suffering from sickness and diarrhea.
This place has potential, but they need to close the doors, train the team properly, and step up their service. The price suggests "boutique, best of the best"—the reality was more like a Little Chef serving cold food. If you’re looking for a quality steakhouse experience, Tomahawk in Beverley is a much better choice.

Read moreIt’s sad to post a negative review , but I feel it must be said . I booked a table for 5 on Saturday night for my husbands 60th celebrations with the family . First of all I didn’t like the fact that on booking they wanted me to send my card details to secure my booking .( I didn’t do it ) . We where disappointed in the fact that we were put downstairs although the decor is lovely . Between us we all had starters calamari ( which was nice ) garlic mushrooms ( my family said the sauce was watery) pork belly bites ( which where nice also ) . But then the main course. Me and my hubby had ordered the sirloin steak medium. Mine with the blue cheese crumb. ( blue cheese in a ramekin) . Husband was with red wine sauce (as watery as a glass of red wine ). And I know about a jus but didn’t look anything like it . The main thing was ,we both ordered medium cooked .mine was very chewy that I struggled to swallow it and the waitress had to wait for me to get it down so I could speak . My husbands came and it was blue inside , raw. They took his back and brought a different one but he left it as he felt it wasn’t right . My daughter had fillet and hers was perfect with pepper sauce . Also didn’t realise our steaks came with potato so we ordered 3 portions of some fries/ rosemary potato’s . Why didn’t the waitress explain to us that they come with the steak! what a waste. The other 2 family members ordered the burger and said it was just like a pub burger nothing special, no side salad either just chips and burger put on a plate no presentation whatsoever ever . Sides, We ordered 2 creamed spinach ( other than a salad no other veg on the menu ) it was very bland and watery but onion flower was nice . This is a steak restaurant surely they should know how to cook a steak !!!And season the food . We decided on not having deserts and coffee as we normally do and asked for the bill . On which a gentleman came over and said he was knocking off 50% off the steak price for the Sirloin but no apology. So We paid and left .We all where vey disappointed on what should have been a very nice family...
