I would give a 0 review if I could. I went in with 7 family members of 3 adults & 4 kids. We all purchased our food and drinks all but 1 child, she was the youngest at just 3 years old. We had already bought her some chips from the local chippy as she doesnt like cold food. Halfway through of her eating her chips a VERY RUDE woman approached our table and said and I quote " SHE CAN'T EAT CHIPS IN HERE, SHE NEEDS TO GO OUTSIDE" We have SIGNS all over to say NO CHIPS IN HERE" to a 3 year old, to the point the 3 year old started to cry. We tried to explain that we had purchased most of our food and drink from the cafe and because it was a hot day we would sit inside out of the sun for a while, never the less this waiter was hovering over our 3 year old, pointing fingers and shouting at us all. They claim they don't do hot food yet yesterday the was serving hotdogs and burgers so I dont understand the big deal over a small bag of chips. Obviously to calm our 3 year old down we did leave the cafe for her to finish the few chips she had left over. I will not be going in there ever again, there are other ways to approach eating customers, she could have been more discrete about it and come over to the table in a nice manner and explained it better rather than showing us all up infront of all of the other customers shouting at us in regards to a 3 year old girl eating a small portion of chips. This lady should be removed from working in hospitality and in a park in genral, Obviously to get young children to eat is hard enough especially when they are picky eaters but the way she came charging at us was ridiculous and very rude and upsetting for the 3 year old girl. I always thought if you bought food from an establishment you had the right to remain and eat as a family & what has happened to the customer...
Read moreWe travelled for 45 minutes to come to East Park with our 2 year old and 10 month old. The only significant letdown was this cafe. Whilst my partner was queuing to make our £40+ order, (2x full English, chicken nuggets kids meal, and ham sandwich kids meal), I gave the children fresh fruit snacks from their snack bag. A lady from the kitchen came over to passive aggressively inform me it was not a picnic area. Although we were ordering food we were not allowed to consume anything we had brought. I apologised and informed her it was our first time there, to be immediately directed to the signage which stated about own food consumption which I had not seen due to looking after my 2 young hungry children! She advised I shouldn't let my children finish anything more than what they had in their hands, and I should put away the rest we had out. They refused tap water to other pay customers, as I can see is the experience on many other reviews including those wanting it to make baby bottles up.
The food was generally over priced, the food was okay, highs and lows to all parts as can be found in most cafés.
Not family friendly, poor customer service. Really sad to see humans not even being decent enough to give water to other humans. Maybe the council should take over this part of the park, ad the rest was fantastic. They could employ people who care about others and make something...
Read moreConsidering this cafe is in a park They do not cater for families. I have left this cafe feeling annoyed and frustrated on two recent occasions. The first was when I asked for some boiling water for my baby's bottle to be told I would have to purchase a cup if tea. I have had 3 children and this is the first time I have been asked to pay for boiling water. I could have understood a nominal charge but over a £1 seemed excessive. I walked away feeling annoyed but thought we would give it another try.
The next time after a play in the park we visited the cafe there was myself, my husband and outer 3 children. Bearing in mind we purchased an adult meal for myself and older children with drinks spending over £30. When I asked for a spare plate (which I planned to add a little bit of food for our newly turned one year old). To be told that they cannot give extra plates to encourage food sharing, and there was a sign to state this. I understand times are hard for small businesses however this seem ridiculous. There is no way our one year old would eat anywhere near a full meal.
It is such a shame that a nice cafe has spoilt itself in this way. I will no longer use this cafe and I will be telling friends with young children the problems I have encountered. It is not acceptable...
