Poppins — Restaurant in England

It's very rare that I feel the need to leave a 1 star review, but I'd give them less if I could.

We ordered an americano (requesting that it's not a filter coffee which we were assured it wasnt), a pot of tea, two kids meals and drinks, a toasted sandwich and a hot baguette (which I expected toasted, but realised it just said "hot" on the menu).

Credit where it's due, the kids meals were ok and the kids enjoyed them. The toasted sandwich was completely inedible, instead of being toasted it was a sandwich made with cold toast and the chicken filling was still frozen in places. This was removed from our bill, although I'm not certain as the overall price didn't seem to reflect this. The americano was clearly a filter coffee in taste, smell and temperature as well. The "hot" baguette was stone cold, even the butter on the baguette wasn't even melted and the baguette itself was so rubbery it was clearly just microwaved for a few seconds before being filled. The waiter did offer to toast it, but that wouldn't have improved the rubbery bread that I couldn't even cut with a knife. I was informed that they don't toast anything properly anymore because customers have complained that toast is harder than fresh bread....

Overall, as there are so many other coffee shops and cafes within a few minutes stroll of here, I'd just avoid them completely. I feel like I was charged nearly £18 for 2 kids meals,a pot of tea and 2 damn near inedible meals. Save your money and...

The food and the service in there is absolutely fantastic! You're greeted by a friendly face and really quick table service. The food always comes to you nice and hot and tasty. Food was nice and hot for what we got and a ok price. But what didn't impress me is the fact we had all finished our food and one of our dishes didn't turn up and we was told the kitchen was busy and it would take yet another 10 minutes to cook some pancakes. Last time I checked it wasn't fair for a child to have to sit there and watch everyone eat. Not good enough need...
