I visited Prego on Wednesday 18 September 2019 at 7.30pm, a weekday during term time. I was with one other person. This was my first visit. I used Google Maps to chose and find the restaurant, which was easy and led me straight to the right place. I chose Prego because of its extremely high rating on Google Maps and it certainly deserves that rating.
I parked in a nearby Britannia car park, which had plenty of spaces available. The car park was just around the corner from the restaurant.
Prego comprises of one cosy sized dining area with around 8-10 tables with full at table service.
The team were very friendly and welcoming and I had no issues - we got everything we expected in good time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
I enjoyed dough balls stuffed with Mozzarella and served with Pesto followed by a Hawaiian Pizza then a sweet waffle. The food arrived hot, well presented and tasted really good. There was a good selection of food and I found something that appealed to me easily.
What I particularly liked about my visit was the cosy atmosphere and friendly service. The dough balls were different, in a good way, the pizza was lovely (stonebaked) and the dessert was delicious. We didn't really know what the dessert was, we just saw it arrive at someone else's table and it looked good so went for it. If I'd read it on a menu I don't think I'd of gone for it but it was really nice!
Our bill came to £60 - we both had three courses and that included two mugs of tea and a bottle of wine so a very reasonably priced evening, especially considering how nice it was.
Overall I really enjoyed my visit and would certainly...
Read moreHad heard lovely things about this cosy Italian restaurant in East Cowes, but like many things in life, sometimes you need to try it for yourself. Despite it being a Monday in January, it was pleasantly busy, giving a nice warm friendly vibe (children are welcome and the well behaved two at the table next to us were great).... but let's cut to the chase. Service was fantastic - to be offered the choice of a local bottled ale from the fridge or from the shelf is a level of great service rarely seen, and much appreciated. A starter of olives is a must - mainly because they taste delicious and the homemade marinade is amazing. We had pizza - thin crust, lovely and well balanced flavours. Skipped dessert - because content with what we'd eaten - but offered a little shot of something before we left - always a bonus and a sign of a restaurant that is happy to say thank you for your custom. Friendly and knowledgeable service, complemented by lovely and sympathetic restaurant design - and of course, great food at a very very reasonable price. But don't take my word for it, try it...
Read moreWent to Prego a couple of nights ago with family. Had Chris as a server and he was very friendly, accommodating and attentive. The meal took me to a happy place. I had the penne fungi w chicken added. It was beautiful and there was a perfect amount of pasta and ingredients. Finished off with the warm chocolate fudge cake with ice cream. Shared the cake w a family member and she was glad she chose to have some. In the next few days I heard that Prego does a lovely lunch menu and pizza. I couldn't resist, so I went by myself to see what it was like. I was served by Michelle and she was just as great as Chris. The pizza was light and fluffy and I was able to get a lunch portion of the pasta i had the other night. Don't sleep on Prego as you will be missing out. The setting/environment is...
