On 11th November we arrived for a birthday Sunday lunch booked more than two weeks in advance (this was after calling over a month in advance and being asked to call back in the beginning of Nov due to a change in management) however our table was not ready, there was no heating on what was a very cold day (apparently all the wood for the log burner had been used up the day before) and they had run out of Sunday dinner. We understandably very disappointed as it was for my partners birthday with his mum and dad and I had chosen the venue so it was quite embarrassing for me to have picked somewhere which had made no attempt to make my partners birthday special. The Manager Dale was very apologetic and as we declined to stay and went elsewhere he offered us all (4 adults) a free Sunday dinner on another date. I emailed the restaurant a couple of weeks later to try and book in for our free meal but received a notification that the email address on the website was not valid. I then messaged them on Facebook as it said they were very responsive and usually replied within a day, however I received no reply. I then called them a few days later but the person who answered the phone said Dale had now been let go and I needed to speak to the new Manager who was currently too busy to come to the phone and so I was asked to call back later. My partner called back on a different day but the new Manager said there was now another owner and he wouldn’t honour the previously agreed free Sunday dinner and the best he could offer was 50% off a meal. We declined to make a booking which is a shame as a lot of people have given good reviews and I would have liked to have been able to do the same but overall I found my experience of Farm Bistro was one disappointment after another. I must say however we had a really lovely dinner at Le Bistrot...
Read moreQuirky Farm Bistro in Harrogate is an absolute delight from start to finish. As you ascend the narrow staircase, you're immediately greeted with warm smiles and genuine friendliness from the staff. Stepping into the small yet intimate dining room feels like stepping into a cosy, quirky haven that's been plucked straight from a storybook.
The decor is charmingly eclectic, creating an atmosphere that feels more like dining in a dear friend's home than in a restaurant. It's quaint, it's definitely quirky, and it's utterly enchanting.
Now, onto the menu – small but perfectly formed, with each dish carefully crafted to perfection. The soulful home-style cooking truly shines through, offering a comforting taste of culinary bliss. We opted for the sautéed garlic shrimps with crispy crostini and the chicken and mushroom crepes, and both were nothing short of stunning. Chef Leonardo, take a bow – your culinary prowess is truly something to behold!
But the magic doesn't stop there. The service at Quirky Farm Bistro is equally exceptional. Our server, whose name eludes us but whose brilliance does not, was an absolute gem. Attentive, personable, and incredibly efficient, he ensured that every diner felt welcomed and cared for.
In conclusion, our experience at Quirky Farm Bistro was nothing short of magical. With delicious food, fabulous service, and a warm and inviting atmosphere, it's safe to say that we'll be returning time and time again. If you're in the area and looking for a culinary adventure, do yourself a favour and pay them a visit – you...
Read moreFirstly, what a lovely little place. Very easy to miss, and I was looking for it specifically. It is above the butcher's, the doorway is between that and another shop which faces out onto the main road. The host who I assume was the owner was lovely a lovely gentleman who obviously has pride in his little bistro. We ordered eggs Benedict X2 and 2 teas. The tea came out as loose leaf in cute little ornate teapots with 3 sand times in a rack, with timings for weak, normal and strong. Never seen them before, again thought it was an interesting touch. Food came out and was beautifully presented, cooked to perfection and tasted wonderful. The host asked if we would like black pepper and seasoned our food for us. The place itself is cozy and has interesting attire all round to look at, and views over the main street if you like people watching. When it came time to pay we payed by card but we're not given the chance to tip the host, and we weren't carrying cash so had no way to leave a tip which I feel awful about. So I am making sure I leave this review instead as a thank you for the great hospitality. This place is an absolute little hidden gem Harrogate....
