The Relish Tandoori is normally an exceptional restaurant, both regarding food and service. On this occasion (Sunday) I treated my daughter-in law, and grandchildren as well as my partner to "an all you can eat buffet meal"", as that is what they wanted, they live abroad so they love to have good lovely indian food in the UK. We have been using this restaurant close on 2 years now, and the meals are normally good ( Saturday night is Relish Night) as we love the food that much. However, on the Sunday in question, and I have made a complaint, the restaurant was empty but for one table occupied by 2 gentlemen. The choice of starters were extremely poor, nobody told us that the Naan breads were included in the meal price, so we only ordered one. The starters consisted of, Tandoori wings which tasted like they had been microwaved, chicken pakora, something else in batter, but no kebabs, samosas, veg choice, to give some kind of impact vision, there were only 3 serving dishes with the starters in. The mains consisted of meatless Rogan Josh which we complained about and asked for it to be replenished, and rainbow rice that was stuck to the bottom of the serving container, again we complained but no action was taken. So we ended up leaving Relish and heading to Mcdonalds as my grandchildren were still hungry. The worst all you can eat we have ever tried, and we put a lot of business their way, including us who normally go every week for the main menu. Not acceptable, we felt like the "dregs" had been served and did not enjoy the meal in any shape or form. Taking into account it was only 6pm in the evening, therefore there was no pressure due to overwhelming clients waiting to be served, in fact the waiters were more intent on chatting to each other than dealing with our concerns, in total there were 8 people in the restaurant, I rest my case, very poor...
Read moreI was planning to pop in for a set menu dinner on Sunday and I got surprised with a £11.95 buffet being served as well. I had a quick look at what food was there and decided to give it a go.
Once I sat down I received a poppadom and a tray of sauces which were really good. I then headed of for some starters. Samosas were so so but there was also very tasty chicken, some kebab style pieces another starter that I don't know and one of the nicest bhajis I ever had. I regret not having more of them as they quickly disappeared :)
I then moved on to mains - there were six available to choose from and I had some saag lamb, chicken tikka and a beef curry. I also saw a veg curry and khorma but I'm not a big fan of the mild ones so I haven't tried. Curries were really nice and a member of staff also asked if I would like a naan and I asked for a garlic one (I assumed that they are extra but it was included in the price). There were spiced potatoes with spinach, rice and other side dish available. The curries were really nice and I saw the staff members top up the starters few times while I was there. One of the curries got replaced with a different one when it was getting empty and it was a surprisingly hot, very tasty chicken curry. The food was enjoyable, members of the staff were kind and attentive. For that price it's definitely worth giving it a go and the guys deserved their...
Read moreIt was the first time eating from Relish Tandoori and I'm sorry to say it was worst Biryani I've ever had!! And bear in mind I used to eat off the shelf value Indian food as a student which tasted a lot better. It was a takeaway so not much I could have done about it, but if I was dining in I would not have paid for it. It was so bland that I put a lot of salt and pepper on it just to make it taste like anything. They must have forgot adding the spices all together. I stopped eating when I saw water coming from underneath the rice from the Biryani sauce I put on top. It was a rice soup essentially. Also I don't know how they managed cutting such small pieces of chicken, nail sized bits of chicken really. So disappointed, I wasn't worrying about it since there are so many good reviews for this place. I had a...
