My husband and I went to the Rifleman this morning 11/5/2024. The male server, a tall man in black clothing was a very rude and churlish man. When he served our drinks which were a tea and black coffee, I politely pointed out that my husband’s cup had 2 chips on it so could he please change the cup. He said it would be a 5 minute wait as there were no cups. Really a cafe with not enough cups. There was only about 10 people there so where are all the cups. My husband said it’s ok I will drink from the other side. I was furious with this man’s don’t care attitude. I always look forward to going there as it is such a pleasant place to sit. He ruined that experience today. I went to pay the bill and pointed out again that he shout not serve anyone with chips or cracks as it is a hygiene problem and an accident waiting to happen. This I do know as I severed my artery in my wrist from the exact thing I was trying to put across. He did not give a damn and since I did not want to have a stand up embarrassing row I asked for the bill. He put the amount in the till but did not add it to the card reader. He then went to serve another customer even though I could not pay. I then asked him to put the bill through so I could pay. He did not give me any eye contact and then said as if he could not be bothered do I want the bill. I said yes so I could tell people of this experience. Never have I had this in any of the coffee/tea shops in Salisbury. He had won the booby price today. I will go back as I say it is in a nice setting, but I will just have water...
Read morePoor quality ingredients. Bread roll obviously out of freezer and microwaved for too long resulting in hard dry and chewy bread.. On complaint was replaced with one not much better. Tasteless Brie cheese was straight out of the fridge and poor quality cranberry sauce. Asked waitress to pass my complaint on to manager was informed that she was the manager. She looked about 16 and didn’t look shocked when I said I would take the food home for my (nonexistent) dog! Broken wooden tables outside and cutlery pointing upwards in the container. A very basic hygiene mistake. Food was paid for on ordering and no offer of refund made. I live in Salisbury and will tell everyone I meet of my poor experience. Please improve before summer tourists arrive as Salisbury's tourists do not deserve to be treated...
Read moreWhen we arrived, the place wasn’t terribly busy, but you could tell they were a bit understaffed. However, they had decent food, the service was pretty good, too, and you obviously overlook the cathedral and the museum next to it. Again, England amazed me by having a wheelchair accessible bathroom just right next to the café. Don’t let people scare you into thinking that England, Scotland and Wales are not wheelchair accessible!
One note, I’ve had the best tasting hamburger at this little Café! I initially asked for ketchup to go on what looks like a pretty barren, hamburger, but one bite told me that no further seasoning was needed. I later apologized to the chef for asking for ketchup, telling her that it was the best hamburger I’ve had, and it definitely didn’t need any further...
