We have been to this restaurant twice, once about a month ago (very nice lady waitress and food was delicious) and once last night 15th September, for my birthday. We ordered cocktails, they were yummy, ordered our starters, which were also yummy, then it all sort of fell to pieces. My Lamb Kleftiko (off the specials board) was presented in scrunched up baking paper wrapping which had to be taken off the plate and put..maybe on the table...another napkin? dripping fluid. well ok you might say, different, but then my friends dinner (Shrimp Orzo pasta) was presented with the head and shell on, normally not a problem if they are on top of the pasta, unfortunately for him, they were mixed up in the pasta, which had the same consistency as tinned spaghetti in tomato sauce. He needed a finger bowl! The waitress didn't know what a finger bowl was, even tho' he had sauce all over his fingers and was getting quite mucky with the heads and shells falling off the side of his plate. Ok, its my birthday, I am just letting these things go, don't want to be upset or angry, its fine. I started eating the lamb. First bite, um....ok, bit salty.....waitress came over to ask was everything fine, yeah, just started eating so what do you say? I eat a half potato, the 'sauce' is salty that the potato is lying in. Oh dear, try the meat again, it's literally burning the sides of my tongue. I can't eat it. I eat the salad on the side of the plate for relief and try to get the attention of the waitress, who by this time is a bit busy. I am also watching my friends face eating the four shrimp, oh dear, he doesn't look happy...it's tasteless he says, I try it and have to agree. Finally, I get the attention of the waitress and explain that my meal is overly salty. Her response: 'I came over half way through your meal and you said nothing.' Oh here we go, defensive. I am not attacking, just explaining that it is too salty and not good to eat. she takes my plate away as I ask her to get the chef to taste it (it could be a one off mistake) NO, the chef says it's meant to be salty, he is from Greece, he says it's the feta cheese cooked in with the lamb, he actually has just come back from Greece!! I explain that I have had this dish in Greece myself and that feta cheese is not normally included with this dish, but even if it was, the lamb itself was overly salty. I also explain the I am not trying to 'not pay' I just won't go there again. We pay and leave. never to return. Shame as we thought we had found a little gem in Shepton. So, as long as you don't complain, (which we did quite quietly, for their sake and not to put other diners off) or disagree with them, they are fine. whether you are or...
Read moreToday we were with my husband for the first time in this restaurant, but probably for the last time. When choosing a Greek restaurant, I expect good Greek food and a Greek atmosphere. Both the decor and the Greek background music make a very nice first impression. Food- wasn't the worst, but not extraordinary either. We waited over 10 minutes for the starter - one portion of dip taramasalata and pita bread, even though there were no other customers. In addition, there are no plates and cutlery for starters. The main course - lamb kleftiko - kept in the oven for too long, a little browned too much. However, the service is the worst. The lady who served us had absolutely no idea what Greek wines were on offer (only one), there was no pepper and salt on the tables. Halfway through the main course, the lady remembered to ask if we were missing anything. She was busy ringing or browsing the cell phone all the time. She wasn't in the least interested in offering us a dessert or a drink. Overall a very disappointing stay. It's a pity because the restaurant...
Read moreOrdered 3 chicken slouvaki, 1 creamy chicken and a bruschetta. 45 mins later my son arrived with 3 chicken gyros and the rest of the order. I phoned to complain as I won’t eat shaved chicken and I was told I had ordered gyros. I didn’t. I’ve never eaten gyros from there ever and the girl who argued with me for 5 minutes over the phone told me that I had. Asked my whereabouts in the 45 mins it took to call them ( I explained that my son Had gone to boots for medicine for my elderly grandma. The overall experience I take from this ( she hung up on me ) is to be very very careful and get her to repeat back all of your order ( she didn’t do this - my fault for not checking ) even if they’d offered to change the chicken it would have been something but they are rude and obviously don’t have the customers interests at heart. £60 later and I can’t eat what the girl misheard over the phone. Gyros or slouvaki ?! Don’t sound the same to me! Food is mediocre at...
