I’m a regular customer at Roymai Thai and have always enjoyed their food until now. Unfortunately, this visit was absolutely disappointing from start to finish.
The food was disgusting and inedible. We spent over £70, but the portion sizes were much smaller than expected, especially for the price. We ordered Garlic Beef and Cashew Beef, and both were overcooked, tough, and impossible to chew. The Cashew Beef seemed mixed with sweet and sour sauce, which tasted awful. When we raised the issue, the staff simply said “that’s how we cook it” and refused to replace or change anything. There was no apology or empathy whatsoever. I even questioned myself how they could cook both beefs the same way when they’re supposed to have two completely different sauces.
Even the beer tasted off, with a metallic flavour as if it had come from a dirty glass or bottle. The Tom Yum soup had only three prawns, filled with mushrooms and it was completely lacking in aroma or flavour. After the meal, we both felt unwell with stomach pains, unsure if it was a mild food poisoning or a bug. The egg noodles were another disappointment, just plain, barely half an egg, and loaded with random vegetables. Nothing flavour
To make matters worse, on our previous visit, my friend found a small white bug crawling on the menu, which in hindsight should have been a warning sign.
I had hoped the staff would offer some kind of goodwill gesture or discount, especially since I couldn’t eat most of my meal but nothing was done. They seemed completely uninterested. And to top it off, they gave us a few jelly beans at the end of the meal I mean why? We just spent over £70 on food, and handing us five jelly beans worth a few pounds felt almost insulting. We’re adults, not kids.
Overall, it was a huge letdown after being a loyal customer. Sadly, I and my friend won’t...
Read moreFood inedible. Did not eat any. The food is disgusting. We often eat at Lumpini, but they were closed on a Monday night. We will never eat this place food, it’s terrible! Starters were burnt and over done. Prawns in pad Thai were mush and the smell unpleasant. The noodles so over done they stuck together like gloop. Breadcrumbs on chicken in cashew nut mixed with sweet and sour sauce was a horrible sensation and the cashews were unpleasant. The curry sauce was grey and not green,...
Read moreHad family come down to visit, decided on trying this restaurant as a takeaway due to our regular being completely full and too busy, read the reviews and was just completely mislead. Food was just shocking. I’ve eaten better beans on toast made by my 2 year old. £100 lighter and all the food now in the bin, will not be returning or using this restaurant again, they will also not answer or return your calls. Don’t let the 5* reviews fool you, if you want a good Thai restaurant,...
