Ruskins Bar — Restaurant in England

This bar is in one of the yards off the main shopping strip in Kendal town centre, but is easy to find because of the large sign on the side of the building facing on to the street.

The pub is reasonably cheap as a round for two only cost £6.80. In addition there is a great range of whiskeys, but limited ales and lagers.

The pub has two rooms at the top of the stairs and on the night I was there was a band on in one room, charging 5 quid on the door. However, I found it frustrating that as the night went on people from the other room were not prevented from coming in having not paid making it feel that I had paid the entry fee for no reason. In addition, these people were trying to dance and invade the personal space of any female in the room, dropping glasses on the floor and mocking the band - none of which was dealt with by the the staff.

Overall despite the drinks being cheap and the bands okay I ended up not enjoying the night out. If I go again and the experience is better and the staff able to manage these situations better, I will update this review, but for now I don't recommend...

Highly leng local bar, great selection of drinks and friendly staff. Even better when there’s a wicked and bad MC doing up naughty riddims pon the mic. The Guinness is also 2 degrees colder than the standard pub serve which I believe improves the texture, everyone hates me when I mention this fact however. Great 4 for 10 deal on Jagerbombs, just have to watch out for the skinny white guy behind the bar who may or may not try and guilt you into getting one for him as well. It’s a bit annoying at first but you can just ignore him and he will stop. It’s worth it for the selection of draught...

Mint Comedy Club have just held their first monthly comedy night at this venue in the rear large lounge.......Excellent night, professionally presented with superb comedians and very welcoming and efficient bar staff on hand. Well worth a visit to the next Comedy show in February.
