NOSH — Restaurant in England

This charming café is nestled in the heart of the bustling market town of Pickering. My family and I have had the pleasure of dining at Nosh numerous times over the past few years, and without fail, we are greeted with a warm welcome at this family-operated gem.

Our first encounter with Nosh was on a lazy Sunday when we were in search of a light bite. Most dining establishments in the area typically offer a separate menu on Sundays, focusing on the traditional roast dinner. To our delight, Nosh not only opened its doors on Sundays but also continued to serve its regular menu, featuring an array of sandwiches, salads, soups, and delectable cakes.

More recently, my husband needed to adhere to a gluten-free diet, and we were thrilled to discover that Nosh was more than capable of accommodating this dietary requirement. The staff members demonstrated an excellent understanding of dietary restrictions and cross-contamination risks, putting our minds at ease. Beyond offering gluten-free sandwiches and toasties, the accommodating team was willing to modify any menu item to suit specific dietary needs. Notably, the variety of gluten-free options in the cake section truly stood out. Each delectable cake is freshly prepared in their own kitchen, and on my last visit, I counted four different cake and treat options behind the counter. My husband was spoiled for choice and ultimately left with a delectable cake and a gluten-free scone. For individuals adhering to a gluten-free diet, stumbling upon a café that serves gluten-free scones is an absolute delight.

Furthermore, Nosh extends its hospitality to both dogs and children, having welcomed both at different times. Additionally, their kids' menu is quite impressive.

I cannot recommend Nosh highly enough – it undoubtedly ranks as the premier café...

Edit: 1 year later, we were back in North Yorkshire on our holidays again. Stopped by NOSH mid afternoon for coffee and cake after riding the steam train into Pickering. Staff/owners were polite and accommodating. Food and coffee was good. Decided to stop by again for breakfast on the journey home the next day. Again everything was delicious. They even ran out to the shop to get hash browns that we ordered as a side, despite the menu clarifying that they were subject to availability. Great to see that standards haven't slipped at all. Will definitely be recommending and returning!

Original review: Stopped off in Pickering on the way back from Robin Hood's Bay. Spotted this quaint café with outside seating and decided to give it a shot. Staff were very polite and accommodating. Food was excellent. Had a Sausage and Egg breakfast muffin - similar idea to the guilty pleasure that is the McMuffin - but this was clearly created from scratch, not greasy in the slightest, and incredibly tasty. Also tried three Bacon and Sausage sandwich, fresh bread and well cooked. Ordered pancakes with fruit compote and clotted cream for my son, so obviously tried that as well, again excellent. Would wholeheartedly recommend. Whatever you're doing "Nosh", keep it up and don't let...

A proper cosy little cafe in the heart of Pickering. With a pleasantly higgledy-piggledy that's really warm and charming. But not only that coeliacs and people on a gluten free diet rejoice because the staff will really look after you well. They can let you know what they can and cannot do and have a great understanding of cross contamination. I had a tuna cheese and red onion panini which I was reassured was cooked in parchment paper on a sandwich press. So while they do not claim to have a full gluten free kitchen due to the their size they demonstrate great understanding and care in reducing cross contamination.

The panini by the way was excellent. Filled really well with quality tuna, cheese and onions. And I had a awesome strawberry milkshake made with local ice cream to go with it.

My dad would have loved to gotten the sausage, egg and cheese muffin but we arrived too late! That's on us of course. So make sure you check the times if that tickles your fancy!
