Wet and windy day in Tintagel, what better to fill the tummy before tackling the castle up on the steep peninsula than a fresh pasty straight from the oven. Drawn in by the waft of the smell of the freshly baked pasties I could see through the open door to the kitchen with pasties in progress, I glanced over the options on the boards above the counter but had to go with the classic traditional to really get a taste of what they are offering at £5.50 per pasty (Apr25). As mentioned pasty was lovely and hot, the crusty was thick with a good chew with a salty tang. The inside had a decent mix of beef, potato and swede filling the pasty, slightly under seasoned but nice flavour....
Read moreA wonderful family run business. We popped in for a pasty before heading to the castle, having eschewed the competition down the road (top crimped pasties in Cornwall! Blasphemy surely). They were top notch, great pastry, well filled, decent amount of steak, great amount of pepper. Just missing swede for me personally.
We decided to come back after the castle for round two, grabbing some scones and an apple date slice. The scones were wonderfully tender, and the apple date slice unbelievably moorish.

Read morePasties were very good (Traditional, Lamb and Mint, Curried cauliflower/chickpeas) and my son enjoyed his salad. The staff were excellent and very helpful taking lots of time to help our 4 year old choose his salad box content. Our 18 month old daughter also live the little pot of strawberrys they gave to her. The shop has an outdoor / indoor seating area across the road which we used due to the wet conditions, unfortunately this did let things down a little, as the indoor area smelt very musty. However, that wouldn't put me off coming back again...
