The bar service was amazing and the lady who served us really made some amazing drinks But the food was terrible we ordered Hallomi bao buns -(the buns looked and tasted like they was thrown in a chip pan and had a tiny bit of grated hallomi on it) Crispy king prawn skewers -( what was well over cooked and you could smell them from the over side of the restaurant very fishy was definitely off) Crispy chicken boa buns -(the chicken was good but the buns looked and tasted like they was thrown in a chip pan) Sweat potato fries-( you could taste dirty burnt fryer oil on them so the fryer definitely wasn’t cleaned in a while) The waitress who brought the food out didn’t once come back and check if our meals are okay or if we needed anything else even know we have pushed full plates of food to the side and trying to get her attention to please take the food away ended up waiting 50 minutes after food has been served to speak to a waitress and couldn’t so we lefted very disappointed and hungry Also the restaurant/ cocktails area wasn’t busy at all they was 5 table of 4 people or under and I can’t believe the service could be that bad when it was that bad inside and we went on a Monday as well The only thing what was edible what we was served was the gummy shark inside the cocktails

*DO NOT ORDER ‘AFTERNOON TEA’* (Photos included are the website afternoon tea and our personal photos) First of all we got there, the security asked for an email prior to us going in to make sure we had a booking? We had an email booking, but none of our other parties did, so they had to wait about for the person who booked before they were allowed in? Minor issue, but one of the very many problems which occurred here. Secondly we spoke to a guy re our seat, we had booked a flower booth. ‘Sorry you’re party isn’t big enough (7) so you can’t have a flower booth. ? Don’t let people book into them then? (Again a minor issue, but following this we had problem after problem. Thirdly we sat down & ordered drinks. We got them after a reasonable while and they were good. Afternoon tea came, extremely disappointed. We have a photo of the website afternoon tea which looks lovely, it wasn’t anything like this at all. It showed sliced granary bread with lovely fillings in (bird cages) it looks very pretty on the website. Probably now, the fourth server of the day arrived with a large tray of under baked freezing cold baguettes. It looked really unappetising, and quite frankly, I wouldn’t even serve this at a very informal kids party. We all asked the staff why they didn’t come in the bird cages, she said ‘we don’t do them for large parties’??? Well why not? The rest of the food came on trays, we barely ate anything. The scones were nice, but again, very very cold. I mean you should really serve them warm? Or at the very least room temperature. This all took a long time to arrive. Was almost like everything had just come out of a freezer? It probably did? Nothing homemade, to be honest I’d go as far as saying it’s one of the worst meals I’ve ever had and the worst service. Please take note! Only one girl seemed pleasant and helpful (blonde hair), every other person was miserable, slow and very unhelpful. We also got different responses to questions we asked, as apparently we didn’t get the bird cages because they don’t give them to large parties, yet another staff member said they’d just ran out!? Lastly, we asked for the bill TWICE, I asked them for NHS discount, I called them up to an extra person to the booking, I said we work for the NHS, we have a flower booth for afternoon tea, she said yes we do offer discount and yes it’s for afternoon tea. When showing our blue light cards the staff they said sorry we don’t. Come on!!! train your staff to give the correct information!!! We ended up complaining at this point and asking for the manger, the manager didn’t even show up, it was a polite girl who had to keep speaking to management and coming back. If we ask for the manager at least come to see us. We did then get some discount which was appreciated, but would have rather had an enjoyable experience over that anyway.

Dreadful bar. Maybe this is why it was very quiet on a Saturday night. Despite better judgement I went here with a group of 12 people. Door staff were excellent-very professional. Queue at the bar was insane. Bar staff seemed mostly interested in serving the female clients first. Of particular interest was a young man, tall, brown hair, early 20s, chewing gum non stop, who purposely ignored my companion 3 times. I actually timed him and it was 16m to get served. Floor was sticky. Chairs dirty. Tables not cleared and piled high with dirty glasses. Toilets, wow, stunk beyond belief. Filthy, paper randomly scattered. DJ was awful. For some reason he wasn't aware that he was exceeding the max volume of his speakers so all the music was distorted and not pleasant. We spend a lot of time out in bars and this one was on the VERY poor end. No match for its sister branch in Leeds.

We booked for a Bottomless Brunch for six of us. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING regarding our experience was absolutely superb. Never done this before so I was thinking the staff would be slow with drinks service. But let me tell you it was totally the opposite. Our waitress, Natalie, couldn’t have done anymore for us. So polite, friendly and approachable. The same can be said for all the staff members who were working Sunday 2/7/23. We travelled over from Leeds for the day but I can tell you we will be back. Thanks to all the staff for making our birthday celebrations an experience to remember.

Pre booking is a must as it gets very busy. We originally had booked a festive afternoon tea but it wasn't available on the day. The staff handled the matter great and can not be faulted especially Ellie. Comfy seating and great views over the river. 2 4 1 cocktails availability with plenty of choice. Only downsides were the sandwiches. They were dry and rushed and the filling was everywhere. Also I reported the lack of toilet paper in most of the women's cubicles and it still hadn't been rectified over 2hrs later. Will visit again if in the area.

Phenomenal experience of bottomless brunch at the Riverside Slug and Lettuce. We had bottomless brunch a year ago at your other branch in York, which we really enjoyed but fancied a change of scenery. I can’t put into words how much of a great time we had. This was hugely down to our server Natalie, who went above and beyond to ensure we had a good time and got the best out of our bottomless brunch experience. We will be back!
