I recently dined at The Punch Bowl restaurant in York Wetherspoon, and my experience was quite satisfactory. The food, while not exceptional, met my expectations. The menu offered a variety of options, and the dishes I tried were decent, providing a satisfactory dining experience without standing out. The cleanliness of the establishment was noteworthy, contributing to a pleasant atmosphere. One of the highlights of my visit was the excellent service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and efficient, enhancing the overall dining experience. Whether it was taking orders, refilling drinks, or addressing inquiries, the service staff displayed professionalism throughout. The ambiance was comfortable, and the restaurant had a welcoming feel. While it may not be the ideal spot for a gourmet dining experience, The Punch Bowl serves its purpose as a reliable and convenient option. For those looking for a casual meal in a clean environment with good service, this Wetherspoon establishment in York is a suitable choice. Overall, my visit was positive, and I would consider returning for a straightforward and hassle-free dining experience.

I went to the punch bowl today and I've been several times before. Today I found the service very rude and slammy (slammed plates down etc) I know the current situation peoples fuses are short but still good old fashioned customer service should still be in place. I've been to several pubs since lockdown eased with no problems staff have been amazing but not here. It took us 20 mins to work out the app which we had to download to order food from we asked for help and got nothing. I know it was busy but still it's the little things that make the difference. The food was lovely and it did come to our table nice and quick

This was a fabulous restaurant to eat and drink at, having designs that invoked the historical culture of York! The chandeliers on the ceiling make for beautiful lighting too and Easter decorations have been put up, channelling the seasonal spirit. Me and my friend sat a very clean table, where we were served our food and drink promptly. The pulled chicken wrap was delicious as were the peas, having a great level of warmth! The lady who took my order was really nice, asking if I wanted ice with my J20, which was a gorgeous drink.

This was a one off meeting on saturday of veteran Green Howards comrades ( some of whom had'nt seen each other for many years ) who served together. The place was bouncing and everyone was having a great time and even gave the pub an impromptue sing along!! The staff were working there socks of but when one of our number took ill they made sure he was ok and kept coming to check on him untill we got him away home for which I would like to thank them very much. Great venue and great staff.

Would have given them 4☆ but the serving staff need lessons in table service!!! Slapping the plates on the table and walking away while asking is everything ok is not the way to give customer service. The bar staff however were 5☆ and couldn't do enough.Food was on par with all the rest of the chain!!!! Parking is available at rear of pub but it's council pay and display and quite expensive!! Worth a visit if your around York and want a good value meal.

The Punchbowl is a nice cosy pub next to York walls and the bar. It's not as big as most Wetherspoons, but it has the same wide range of beers, lager and cider, including eight hand pulled cask conditioned real ales when we visited. The cask ales we sampled were in very good condition. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the service is very quick. It's a very popular pub and always busy due to the great value of the food and the cheap beer.
