CAN BUY MORE AUTHENTIC INDIAN FOOD FROM A SUPERMARKET!
Decided to come to this restaurant following some positive recommendations from friends for my birthday. As soon as I walked through the door there was a terrible atmosphere and I felt very unwelcome. We were seated at the back of the restaurant near the fish tank where there was a freezing cold draft coming from the back wall. It then took ages for our drinks to arrive and even longer for food.
When the food arrived we were very disappointed with the portion sizes (with only 3 or 4 tiny pieces of chicken in each curry)!
Furthermore my son ordered a tandoori mixed grill which only had around 6 small pieces of mixed lamb and chicken for £12.99! The lamb was rock hard and inedible. As for the chicken, it was all clearly frozen, had no flavour and was anaemic - clearly not cooked in a tandoori oven as claimed.
All of our dishes had horrible, rubbery frozen chunks of chicken which most definitely were not chicken tikka as they had no flavour.
My daughter had a chicken tikka Massala which was a very bland korma with red food colouring mixed in. I know this because the only flavour that it had was coconut.
I had a chicken tikka Malayan which had more pineapple than chicken and, as it appears to be common in this restaurant, absolutely no flavour at all.
We were so unhappy with our food that we got up to pay before the plates had even been cleared from our table. Upon doing this, the staff didn’t ask whether everything was ok. They simply took my money (over £100) and didn’t even wish me goodnight or goodbye.
This was an absolutely awful experience and I will never be returning or recommending to anyone!

Read moreBest curry i've had locally, not really reviewed the Indian restaurants locally as they're all of a fairly good standard, however, a chance meal here whilst the kids were off doing stuff deserved a review. We needed to eat early and our usual establishment didn't open until 18:00 so we ventured into Spice Tandoori. I had a memory of a pretty poor experience in here about 10 years ago (probably different name/owners) and we hadn't been back. This place now, however, is well worth plenty more visits. Decor, cleanliness, service were excellent and the prices were in no way extravagant (I wouldn't be in there if they were! Only £12.99 for Stater, Main, Veg Side & Rice or Nan). When the food came they had gone the extra mile with presentation. The poppadom pickles had something i'd never tried and the bhajis came with a dressed, yes you've read correctly, dressed salad! I had the Chicken Tikka Balti for main. It was, without doubt, the best curry i've eaten in Brighton and in the last 10 years i've probably eaten in most of the place around Brighton Indian Restaurants. I will certainly be returning when the...
Read moreWe ordered a takeaway yesterday evening and noticed one of our dishes was missing. So, I called them up and they said we never ordered it! Funny thing is, that I'd already done the maths on the total cost (with the missing dish) and it was close to what we paid! The person on the phone was adament they were right (after all, the customer is always wrong) and asked us to pay (again) for the dish if we wanted it! Evidently the prices on their website / menu must be wrong or indeed they make them up as they go along (of course, they conveniently didn't provide us with an itemised receipt) or perhaps the staff just haven't received a proper education and can't add one and one together. What it does of course mean is that the staff are theives. They've stolen my money and not provided the goods. They have also lied to us (my wife mentioned "aloo gobi" to them twice and they repeated, but mysteriously it wasn't on the order). We certainly won't be going back - but at least there are plenty of other good (honest) curry...
