Absolutely avoid at all costs. One of the worst nights of my life has been at the hands of this hotels shortcomings. Firstly I was in Leicester on business and i didn't finish work until 11 at night, however the hotel the company had booked for me was this one, unfortunately. I arrived and a very groggy lady came to the door aggressively telling us off in a difficult to understand accent.
It transpires that the hotel closes at 8 and if you haven't checked in by then tough luck is the approach they are going for. Of course we hadn't been notified about this and so we didn't know. When we entered the hotel instantly my friend and I realized that there was a very off smell in the hotel, we could not put a name to it but knew it didn't smell right.
The very moody owner/receptionist gave us our key and told us our room number, we then managed to creak up the stairs making a racket as we went due to the creaky floorboards. When we got to the door we opened it any entered, the room seemed fine, despite a smell from the toilet and a very strange bed arrangement it was livable. We dropped of our bags, and now that we had a front door key we didnt need to ring the bell we could let ourselves in and out, so proceeded to a bar nearby to have a pint after a good days work.
It was when we went to lock the door that another problem arose, the door did not lock, not from the inside or the outside. Which of course was a problem, and so once more we went downstairs to speak to this lady only for her to tell us that she had no other rooms and she would have a look for a spare key and had us wait in reception.
As we waited in the outdated and sad reception it finally dawned on us that the potent small that was being emitted so strongly from this part of the building was that of Marijuana.
When she returned she gave us the spare key and it also failed to operate, and so we decided to check out, we were told that the room would be refunded to the company, not sure if this happened or not. We ended up sleeping in the car at Watford Gap Services.
Absolute Nightmare!
If you got through this whole...
Read moreMyself and a friend travelled to Leicester to combine visiting my Daughter at DMU and shopping ! It was our first time staying at this hotel and we were not disappointed . We were able to park in a secure car park very close by and were minutes away from the University , shops and Restaurants . The room was very spacious with 2 beds, tea and coffee facilities , hairdryer and an iron and ironing board and an en-suite shower room , everything was clean and very comfortable . Breakfast was included in the price and did not disappoint ! Cereals, fruits (huge selection) yoghurts, croissants , cold meats and cheeses, boiled eggs , toast and tea, coffee and fruit juice all with an unlimited supply . The staff were very pleasant and polite . I would definitely stay here again . The car park that we used only cost £10.00 from lunch time on the Saturday until 16:30 on the Sunday . Please note the car park is locked overnight and does not re open until 10am Sunday so would not suit people needing an...
Read moreLovely hotel, lovely staff, loooovely breakfast. Were so good to me and my family last year when we were evicted and had nowhere to go. After being here for one night we were moved to the most vile, disgusting hotel in Leicester, we stayed there for a few days and didn't see one single cleaner the whole time.... Naturally we (I) vocally expressed my disgust with this hotel to the council (who had put me my partner and my two children there) and we were moved back to Castle Park. They could've said no but they didn't and we wasted no time going back to this hotel where they knew how to take care of their guests. If I ever moved out of Leicester and had to come back for any reason, this is where I'd stay. The rooms are so nice and the cleaner works so hard every day. Bathroom was clean and nicely fitted. Tbh even though we have a lovely little house now I often think about and miss staying at this hotel. Thank you for taking card of us, I can't tell you how much we...
