We have been eating in The Apollo most evenings as two of us are working in Bridlington for 8 weeks but after Monday night's experience we won't be eating in there again. We both ordered (just after 8pm) Homemade Shepherd's Pie to be told there would be half an hour wait which isn't a problem because they was busy. We both really enjoyed the Shepherd's pie and vegetables, the problem was the table service was terrible. When the condiments arrived they were banged on the table and when the same waitress brought our dinners they were dropped on the table that hard that the gravy was spilt from the jug. The main problem was when I had finished my dinner I then went up to order a dessert to be informed that I couldn't have one as the kitchen closed at 9pm. I asked what the time was and very abruptly replied 9:06pm. I was nearly shouted at by a lady behind the bar saying I should have ordered my dessert when I ordered my meal!! One thing is I didn't know I was going to be hungry still when I ordered my meal and the second thing is if I had ordered my dessert at the same time as my main meal it would be cold by the time I had eaten my dinner. I have never been to any eating place and refused a dessert after service especially when it was only six minutes past. I was spoken to like I was child by the lady behind the bar, I asked to speak to management about the complaints procedure and was refused. We shall not be eating in there again!! (A real shame as the food was to a...
Read moreWe had visited from Doncaster after not coming to Bridlington for over 10 Years. Me and my partner was wandering around for something to eat. My partner who is 7 months pregnant needed the toilet and saw this place. We entered and as she went to the toilet I realised they sold food. We agreed to try the food and have a drink. What a great decision it was, the food was cooked really well and the portion size was huge and tasted really good. For an independent pub this was better than any mainstream pubs up and down the country and very reasonable in price. The staff were very friendly and happily cleaned our table after I requested a quick wipe. My partner posted the food on her Facebook and I have had numerous work friends ask where in Bridlington this place is as the food looked amazing and they have never found a decent place to sit and eat there. I am sure over the summer season you will see some of them in your establishment as you are well and truly a 5 star place in Bridlington. Thanks once again for...
Read moreVisited the Apolllo last Monday . The restaurant inside is tidy and inviting but the staff and their presentation and hospitality skills are in dire need of an upgrade. Why would the "chef" be sitting by the bar , dressed in a chef's jacket that looked like it has not seen a washing machine for a while, wearing a baseball cap back to front , and looking like he had not seen a mirror for even longer. The person that took our order was leaning on the screen of the ordering system like he was having a break and was not sure about anything on the menu although he did upsell , a big plus. I just knew the food would be substandard and so it was. The chili was dry , it had been microwaved so many times it had dry lumps of meat and I just could not be bothered to complain. Add some water to the dish to give it some texture chef !! I wanted to relax without the hussle . Please take this as constructive criticism rather than...
