I came in to bardo lounge around 4ish yesterday (Friday) as soon as I arrived I found myself a place to sit and was having a video call with my friend at the time. I suffer from severe anxiety and stomach problems, I wanted a peppermint tea to settle my stomach and something to eat as I hadnāt ate the whole day. When I was ready to order I got up and stood at the till (mind u at this time it was pretty empty and no one else was standing at the till/bar) There was one person I saw working at this time and she was making a couple of drinks behind the bar, I stood there for a while no acknowledgment. Not even a ābe with u in a minuteā then she walked past me and out the bar area to go serve these drinks not even a ābe back in a secā like something?? But nothing just plain ignoring. I went and sat back down and continued to speak to my friend on video call I was getting heart palpitations which is common for me I suffer with panic attacks also, but Iām there trying to calm myself down I just wanted a PEPPERMINT TEA?! I went back up to the till a few minutes later and as I got up another lady also walked to the till and found her infront of me. We waited, I couldnāt stand for long I kept tapping my chest and breathing consciously to lower my anxiety and ended up sitting back down. Now this lady got served and I saw her go off. Then another few minutes I thought I would try for the 3rd time. This time there was a blonde girl behind the bar and then the other girl known as Shannon (built like SpongeBob) the one that had been ignoring also came back behind the bar. So Iām standing there and this time there is 2 of them and they still did not acknowledge me, I was pissed and if I had exchanged a few words it would of been worse for her then me. So I allowed went to go get my things walked to the bar and asked for her name. Whilst making drinks and not even giving me eye contact she said very rudely āShannon, why?ā Lol why? She new damn well hence why she couldnāt even give me eye contact. Anyway I left and went off to coppa club to get something to eat, great experience as soon as I enter, lovely staff very accommodating and helpful. The girls are nice who work there because Shannon nice girls are pretty girls and hating girls are well YOU. I donāt want to leave this review based on one unprofessional staff member. I have been bardo lounge many times before but always at earlier times where all the staff are lovely, I donāt know where she came from but you need to send her back. Her energy...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI should say at once that Bardo Lounge is part of a sizable chain and the format is therefore presumably successful. However, I'm not keen. It can't seem to make up its mind whether it's a restaurant that sells drinks or a bar that sells food. On entering, my friend and I were told to pick a table and choose what we wanted to eat from the menu and then go to the bar to order it. This is fine in a bar but since the staff were largely unemployed on a quiet Thursday lunchtime seemed a bit daft. The staff steadfastly refused to do anything, even when we found ourselves short-changed on the cutlery front - we were told we had to go to the bar (even though there was no one there at the time).
The menu is long and eclectic. If there is any kind of theme, I failed to spot it. After discovering that our chosen option was unavailable on the day we both opted for the Pulled Brisket Chilli. The Chilli was fine, although I didn't like it as much the usual kind made with mince, the chips we ordered were excellent. You kind of know with a menu this broad that things cannot all be cooked fresh to order.
As a bar, Bardo Lounge fails, in that it has a poor range of draught beers. Only a single ale - Punk IPA, pleasant enough but it won't set the world on fire.
As a restaurant, Bardo Lounge fails on poor service and no better than average food. They are also, they say, dog friendly. I'm happy enough when dogs are brought into pubs but decidedly less so when they come into restaurants.
It is also worth noting that Bardo Lounge and its sister establishments are almost obsessive about allergies and allergens. If this is important to you, this alone might make this a good...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNicely decorated and absolutely lovely location for a sunny day in Maidenhead. The menu options are good and food was tasty. However the service and staff are just horrible. Incredibly long waiting time to get 2 simple dishes - over 45 mins and even drinks took over 20 mins despite the place not being full. The app ordering is also not great as the paper menu does not exactly match the app menu and it takes ages to locate what you've selected! Now the staff - a waiter spilled ice cold drink on our toddler's head making her soaking wet and crying hysterically. You would have expected the waiter to offer a free drink to apologize, bring the child a treat to calm down, but nothing... and when we asked if we could get an extra slice of orange for the toddler who enjoyed eating them (and which was in our spilled drinks) the waiter said they had run out of oranges! Just shocking. It's really a shame as this place has a huge potential and such a lovely location. I'm doubtful as to whether to give this place another chance. Are they doing anything to improve the service and the quality/ training of the waiting staff is my concern as I'm reading so many similar reviews here, which the management seems to...
