I understand that Maidenhead doesn’t have yet much to offer in terms of restaurants but still that shouldn’t justify the raving reviews for this new restaurant. I must say that both my wife and my sister-in-law were very happy with their food but service was appalling. I’ve had the burrata and the pappardelle with ragù and both were fairly plain. I usually buy burrata at supermarkets and by adding some high quality olive oil, some ground pepper and some balsamic vinegar I get a much tastier result than what I’ve been served tonight. The pappardelle were served with some meat sauce that was labelled ragù but which lacked the complexity and taste of the actual Italian sauce with that name. Service was slow, the waiter couldn’t even pour wine properly and kept on muttering rather than talking but he was also the only waiter for the whole restaurant so management doesn’t seem to be good either. A true gem! One of the best Italian restaurants - everyone else seems to agree as they are always busy! Really outstanding food - we've been a few times and are now telling our friends that this is an absolute must visit restaurant if they are anywhere near Maidenhead. The appetisers are so good - especially the croquettes. We love that the menu is not too big and focuses on hearty pasta dishes that are cooked to perfection. There's a real authenticity to the cooking here. It's also great that they don't do pizza - Presto across the street has got the Italian pizza market very well covered so this is a complementary offering if you are looking for exquisite pasta.
