Currently Wetherspoons #126 visited.
A fair sized branch with a square shaped bar just by the entrance. A good sized outdoor seating area exists outside the pub. It is situated on the edge of Aylesbury Town centre, near the Theatre. This is now the only branch in Aylesbury since the nearby Bell Hotel was closed.
This is another of those rare Wetherspoons pubs that plays music, on weekend evenings.
The pub was fairly busy inside and out when I visited.
Ordered a pint of Strongbow Dark Fruits and a 10" Southern Fried Chicken Wrap and chips. Total cost was £6.68
The pint arrived around a minute after ordering. With the food arriving in around 9 minutes.
No issues with food quality, or temperature, when it arrived.
Also attempted to order a pint of Nethergate Old Growler Porter listed on the app. However, it wasn't on, so had to make do with a Windsor & Eton Brewery Windsor Knot Beer.
I do wish some branches would keep their Real Ale Lists up to date on the app!
One of the cheapest places for food and drink in Aylesbury. Therefore worth a visit if you don't want to break the bank when eating out in Aylesbury.
Edit: Returned on 7th Sept 2024.
This time I had a Sticky Korean Fried Chicken Bowl and a bottle of Bulmers Red Berries and Lime. Total cost £10.02.
Once again pub was quite busy.
Drink arrived within a few minutes of ordering. Food arrived in just over 10 minutes.
A quite well presented offering and no issues with quality, or temperature of food - as it was...
Read moreBeen for breakfast a few times now with varying degrees of satisfaction. Yesterday though was enough to put me & my partner off returning. Used the app to order breakfast, it seemed to take forever - would have been much quicker going to the bar although maybe not as there appeared nobody serving. No orange juice available. Half the menu on one of the coffee machines was unavailable too when I got to it. Two breakfasts ordered, didn't take long to arrive and when they did, what a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. Plate cold, baked beans cold, sausages & mushroom barely warm, bacon cold, eggs over cooked but cold, 'toast' was kind of coloured rubbery bread and yup also COLD. The only thing hot was the hash browns. My partner wouldnt let me complain as we've all seen those awful clips of what happens when food is returned to a kitchen, so we ate what was edible and left the rest. When approached by a server to check how breakfast was, we told him in no uncertain terms that it was served cold. There was no apology, offer of management input or refund, instead his response was "I've heard of worse" and then he started retelling the tale of another customer which I really didn't want to hear so he was asked to stop. All in all, I wish we had gone somewhere else, paid a bit more and had a breakfast we could eat & enjoy. Lesson learnt...
Read morePlace has potential but sadly the staff let it down. Came here with a few friends and straight away got bad vibes from the servers. We ordered through the app and to be fair, the food does come out quickly, sadly they only brought out 1 dish and by the time my friend nearly finished the rest of them came out. We then asked about our drinks as they still hadn’t come out to which we were met with ‘well we are busy you know’ (Only bout 15 people in at the time) so in total we ended up waiting about 25 minutes just for a drink.
Fast forward to desserts, pancakes were chewy, my friends brownie was just crumbling like it had been defrosted by being thrown in a microwave and some fruit had hairs or mould on it. We brought this to the servers attention to which they replied with ‘oh well it is hard to keep track of everyone’s meals’..... what.....
Finally, when my friend ordered a final drink, not only did he have to wait another 20 minutes, he got given the wrong drink and when he went to the bar to say it was the wrong one, they simply said ‘well it was from this tap so it must be your taste buds’
Such a shame, we all do enjoy a good WhetherSpoon but the staff have really let...
