Unfortunately this was probably the worst “meal” I have ever had the pleasure of paying for.
Upon arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome but it was all downhill from here.
We visited this restaurant for the first time on a Sunday and were trying the Sunday buffet which was priced at £25.95 for an adult and we were seated to a table in the corner by the window and very briefly told about the menu upon which the person who sat us walked off.
We were the first ones into the restaurant and we sat there and sat there whilst the waiters never came over. Eventually I decided I would go a get a plate of food. The sushi options seemed reasonable however the hot food which I use the term loosely was already lukewarm warm just 10 minutes after opening. The noodles had a lack of flavour and were barely warm and a few of the other bits were ok.
We then finally had a waiter come over to take our drinks order. Which again we were the only people in the restaurant and to bring 2 drinks it took over 10 minutes!
We finished our plates of food and the menu said to order some specific dishes please do so at the kitchen but I presume this meant with the waiters and once again we waited and waited and nobody ever came to check on us - I had to go over after a number of failed attempts to get their attention to ask them to come to our table and take our food order.
These skewers then arrived and were extremely small and to be honest very poor. A have attached an image of the beef one which you’d get more meat on a worm.
By this point all I could think is what a waste of £60 this is going to be and I went and tried one more small plate of food trying some sushi which was ok and various other hot or in this case Luke warm dishes and ate some of it to then realise we simply didn’t want to be there no more as again no waiter had come to check on us yet they went to other tables.
We again spent an age trying to flag down a waiter and asked them for the bill because at this point I couldn’t even be bothered to see what the desserts offered and reading 1 scoops of ice cream per person I already knew that would most likely be a let down too.
The bill arrived with the cheek of a 10% service charge added which once the waiter had let us sit for a further 5 minutes or so even though there was just 4 items on the bill I asked for this be removed to which they responded they would need to speak with the manager (at this point I should have requested for the manager to come over) but in reality we was not enjoying our experience or meal and just wanted to leave so I could go get some edible food elsewhere.
They returned the bill without the service so it was now the small sum of £65.35….
We paid and left and will not return or recommend unfortunately.
Note to the Miya management I would provide some staff training. The staff were young teenagers and lacked the customer service and...

Food: Fairly average tasting unfortunately. Nothing overly special so a little disappointing.
Sushi and tempura veg is okay with the tofu agedashi a good choice. Otherwise fairly standard flavours. Veggie sushi starts from around £4 with things like the agedashi around £8. Fried Gyoza is worth a try (4pc @ £8).
For mains we opted for a pork katsu curry and a tofu version too. The pork version was a good portion, whereas the vegetarian version had must less veg in the sauce and much less tofu in comparison (yet priced the same as the pork version @ £15!).
I don't like to say it but Wagamama actually have a much better katsu curry at a lower price.
Service: Our main waitress was friendly but the others seem to struggle with most tasks.
Menus had conflicting pages as they hadn't removed pages of food they no longer offer. We asked for cutlery and were only given 4 forks with 6 people on our table. We asked for spare plates, and were given tiny side plates when we wanted to share mains. We were given a bottle of prosecco which we assumed may have been on the house due to a birthday on our table, but in the end they just took it back as they gave it to the wrong table.
Overall they took quite a while for most tasks and then still added 10% service charge to the bill. I was also told by others in our party that staff seemed off with us on the way out after not paying the service charge too. Service charge should never be automatically expected or added to a bill, especially when the service isn't anything special.
Decor: The venue is good. Newly refurbished so it looks the part. Lightings good, plates and cutlery nice, so the atmosphere is nice.
Overall: Too expensive. I really had high hopes for a higher end restaurant in an area that needed one, but sadly Miya falls short.
Looks great, but the food just isn't to the level you expect when you pay that much. On top the automatic service charge is another annoyance which just sours the experience more.
Potential is there but not with existing...
Read moreDont recommend. We went there on Fathers day Sunday. Initially they couldnt find uor booking, but managed to issue us a table - please ring in advance and make sure your online booking has been recieved. Makes me wonder if online booking is actualy viewed by anyone. Placed an order-all good. Drinks came with ice despite requesting no ice. All hosomaki rolls arrived in different diameter pieces with rice falling off the sides, meaning that these came of the different rolls. Grilled salmon (you wood probably expect that to be a hot dish) was so dry and overcooked-you literally wooldnt be able to put a fork through it, not even talking about having it with a chopsticks. Then we found out that they do a Sunday buffet, that explained everything. What we got was most likely leftovers from a buffet. But doesnt end there. We called a waitress to order deserts, but half way through our conversation another waitress interrupted and said that she knows exactly what we want and there is no need to explain it to another waitress. And guess what, she was a real mind reader - we didnt get any desert. My 4 year old boy got it but we didnt,. She, probably, knew that there was no deserts in a buffet leftover bin or she was 100% confident that its not worth the money. Just wish we didnt get the other stuff. During our visit nobody came to our table to ask if everything was ok and if we need anything else. My boy dropped chopsticks on a floor and was seen by at least 3 waitresses, nobody offered us a replacement until we have asked for it. My wife was very dissapointed as it was our first day out since over a year ago and she wanted to make it special for me. Sort your food and staff out and it most certanly be "THE PLACE" to go, cause the atmosphere is brilliant, the interrior design is so cool and comfortable and could well be a 5...
