Disappointing start turned into nice evening. Arrived for wife's Birthday to be informed no table wá booked when we both booked it the night before. One was available so poor start improved. Then told the card machine was broken so cash only. Not a real problem as I had enough for the evening. Get this put right as this is crucial in modern business. All orders placed with food of the day ordered for 3 of us. Then told there was none left! Never mind we changed our orders. All good in general ok. Constructive food point, Sausages are poor ingredient but filled the hunger. I would replace these with better quality. Normally this would get a 2 star review but the service from the 3 staff involved and their smile showed what a good place this can be once minor issues sorted. What a great little pub! Called in for an impromptu drink and decided to stay for food. We chose their Sizzling Platters, influenced by their delivery at the table next to ours. Absolutely delicious. I had the "proper" chips and my partner had the mash and veg. The chips were divine and the mash was the best I've tasted in a long while really creamy and completely lump free. Service was attentive but not intrusive - lovely couple running this place - and the price was an absolute bargain. Can't remember having such a high quality meal at such a great price. Extremely good value for money. Sadly we were too full to sample the desserts but the Mississippi Mud Pie looked incredible. Our compliments to the chef. Lovely dog friendly pub with tasty food at a reasonable price, couldn't fault anything. We asked when we went in where we could sit with our two huge dogs and got a friendly 'anywhere'. We have been twice in a few days as so impressed and we will be back. The 1st time the young lady immediately brought a bowl of water to our dogs and today the guy straight away asked if we would like one for our dogs. The place is tastefully decorated and the food delicious. We can strongly recommend the double layer nachos and cheese with pulled pork to share, it was stacked high and had a generous topping of guacamole, soured cream, salsa and jalapeños.
