The Boardwalk Café — Restaurant in England

Food OK not worth £27, Ordered 2 cod & chips, 2 kids nuggets & chips (recieved fish fingers) came to £27. We ordered & sat outside, no communication between staff our fish wasn't ready at time if paying (which was fine) the person serving said they would bring it out, 15mins passed & the kids finished the replacement meals & ours hadn't arrived I went back into restaurant & got told it had been on the side for 10mins waiting for me to get it (different member of staff) a new warm meal would take a further 15mins. I took our food & left we sat down outside again, we didn't have any forks, I walked back in to get some & they said they were closed, door said closing time was 17:30 it was 16:45, door was unlocked & still said open, I asked if I could just grab a wooden fork staff said no I was 2 tables away with 3 staff just standing there. I went back outside and continued eating with my hands, the staff closed up and walked passed us. We still had our tray from the restaurant so did 2 other families there was also some cups outside which would now be there until the next day, I don't like doing bad reviews I don't even review places normally but I felt the service here is bad that I had to...

The food is the most disgustingly vile rubbish I have ever eaten in my life. We went today and we all had cod and chips. The chips was raw in side but so over cooked they was rock hard. We was told we needed to wait 15mins when we ordered so I assumed they may have been fresh….. tasted like last weeks batch was warmed up in microwave. I have no doubt the only reason it’s stayed open is because of tourists like ourselves that didn’t know any better, and given it was a cafe on a pier and the prices were fairly high we assumed that it would be nice. More fool us. We all left our food and went home starving. Myself and my partner had bad stomachs from the food. Avoid at all cost. Next time I’ll look at reviews before going places as a tourist. I would like to compliment Kayleigh with her fantastic service this afternoon. The team ran out of chips and fish, she took charge and stepped up directing guests to the tills to pay for the food they would like and clear the queue so that others could continue to be served. The situation had stressed the team and some had visibly panicked. She remained calm and professional ensuring the quality of service didn't drop but most importantly for the business she ensured guests wouldn't leave. When the food was ready it was very tasty and great quality. The fish was beautifully cooked and fell apart under a crispy batter, the chicken nuggets were tasty and chips were fantastic chip shop chips. Looking at the other reviews I don't know what has changed but I do not recognise what they suggest.
