Loco Mexicano — Restaurant in Weston-super-Mare

DO NOT GO IF YOU HAVE ANY ALLERGIES, THEY ARE NOT TAKEN SERIOUSLY AND THE OWNER / MANAGEMENT WILL NOT TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THEIR ACTIONS!!!

A friend of mine who has an allergy to dairy ordered the Chocolate cake which on the menu states ‘dairy free and gluten free’ (see photo). When this cake arrived it had whipped cream on, after questioning the waitress if this was dairy free cream due to allergies she got another member of staff over who quickly snatched the cake away. When coming back with the same cake the waitress stated ‘this isn’t dairy free, but would you still like it’ after stating AGAIN that she is DAIRY FREE, the waitress took the cake away with no apologies given.

After asking to speak to a manager we were sent a guy who stated he wasn’t the manager, he didn’t seem to understand the seriousness of this situation until he was redirected to their ‘Allergy notice’ which is posted by the entrance. He then left and got the ‘owner’ who again, didn’t seem to understand the seriousness of these actions and referred to his waitressing staff as “just runners who are paid to serve food that’s it” he also stated they ‘do not serve dairy free cake’ so their menu is a clear lie.

After backwards and forwarding for a few moments NO OFFER of compensation to the girl was offered UNTIL we had to ask multiple times. To which he agreed even though you could clearly see he didn’t want too.

Thankfully no harm was caused to my friend who was vigilant enough to notice the cream on the cake. ALL allergies should be taken seriously REGARDLESS of what it is and the staff should always take accountability of this.

On arrival at the restaurant staff was extremely unaccommodating the lady didn’t give us a chance to look at the menu. So as we was vegans we asked for alternative to be exchange like sour cream for a sauce and then she began to talk about costing and said I will ask the chef lol. If we didn’t want sour cream she wasn’t Willing to give a alternative. And expected us to pay 14.95 for a dish. She had no customer service skills, and think they hired anyone as they desperate for staff, So I asked the other staff to be served by someone else a guy came over to the table so I then began to Ask if we can exchange so certain things on. The menu he said he will radio to the chef and at that point we waited and no response on the radio as it seemed like no chef was in kitchen. I said as a joke the chef done a runner . He then he said I can sense a attitudes this table, when there was no atmosphere he made us feel uncomfortable he was rude not friendly and he treated us bad. I just left the restaurant and told him this is not how you treat customers and you don’t want to accommodate us in the restaurant but your happy for us to pay 14.95 for a salad and no alternatives. They didn’t have a clue about the menu. DO NOT VISIT THIS RESTAURANT THE SERVICE AND STAFF ARE RUDE AND HAVE A BAD ATTITUDE . Just some advice when a customer asks for a alternative don’t continuously say no. Not unless you don’t have the item And do I need to know about costing of the product to make , no I just wanted to have some food. I will never visit again disgusting behaviour. We have recently moved to weston and had never been here before, so we were looking forward to trying this place out. When we arrived, the place was pretty empty, maybe 5-6 tables with people. The lady at the front sat us down, and then we were pretty much forgotten. For about 15 minutes, we tried to catch people's attention to order food and drink, but everyone seemed to have their tables they were seeing to. I said to my partner, "Maybe it was a restaurant where you ordered at the bar?". We didn't know. We said we would leave it another 5 and then maybe leave... I'm glad we didn't!! A different lady approached and took our order without writing anything down and had to ask us a second time what we wanted. She remembered everything apart from that we wanted bottles and not pints of coke. Fine, no bother, really. Coke is coke. When the food and drinks came out, wow!! Great food, great portions. Burrito needed some more seasoning and spice though. Lots to choose from, and even our picky kids tried something out of their normal and loved it! Yay!. The lady came back to take our kids' ice cream order, and the young man took our plates and even wiped the tables down. The ice cream order wasn't exactly correct either (again, taken from memory), but the kids didn't care. Maybe our cardiff accent came across funny. I'm not sure? The staff were friendly and helpful.
