High hopes but unfortunately left disappointed. Date night and a first try at Bare Grills, We had heard mixed comments regarding this restaurant but we wanted to give it a try as we enjoy TGI Fridays and BBQ food. I'm going to start with the biggest positive for us which was the Mac & Cheese which was amazing. Unfortunately the rest for us is negative, we understand this is an open grill restaurant and would get smokey but we were seated right opposite the counter and close to the grill, we thought it would get a bit smokey but the window we were sat by was closed so got very smokey and at times was uncomfortable to be sat there. Maybe to be asked if we would be comfortable sitting there when seated and told how smokey it gets and given the option to sit somewhere else would have been nice as we both wore nice clothes and they smelt heavily of BBQ smoke for the rest of the evening. I had the ribs which I personally felt were too salty and I struggled to eat them, the biggest complaint though was the girl who served us, we were only sat for 2 minutes before asking what we wanted to drink having barely settled and not even looked at the drinks menu. When we said this she didn't seem happy for some reason and again returned for our drinks and food order a few minutes later. We ordered on the 3rd occasion which again was a few minutes later but the whole process felt very rushed to us when we were looking for a nice relaxing meal out together and a chance to look through the menu properly. The other issue we had was the constant swearing from cooks behind the counter at the grill, I get it's not really a romantic restaurant but the staff should still be professional and I wouldn't recommend to anyone looking to take kids there for a family meal due to this. Our experience wasn't dreadful but it wasn't good either, the food was good but not great, TGI Fridays is much better in every way, seems to always be consistent, similar price and food but we have left there manysmany times saying "that food was amazing". We really wanted to like this place living local. We won't be returning...
Read moreI recently visited a restaurant with high hopes for a delightful experience. While the food was nicely prepared, and it was evident that the chef worked hard, I was disappointed with the waiting staff. It appeared as though they were lazy and failed to carry out the basics of their role. Their lack of attentiveness was evident in the absence of interaction with the customers and basic hygiene.
To start with, the restaurant's cleanliness and hygiene seemed to be lacking. The tables were not wiped properly, and the cutlery was not thoroughly cleaned, giving the impression of a lack of care. The waiting staff did not take the initiative to ensure the basic cleaning was done and, as a result, left the customers with an unsatisfactory dining experience.
Furthermore, the waiting staff were incredibly lazy and unprofessional. They failed to clear our plates, and we were left with empty dishes in front of us for an extended period. The waiters were nowhere to be found, and we had to actively seek out their attention to clear the table.
To add insult to injury, the waiting staff failed to carry out their duty of collecting payment from the table. Instead, we had to go to the till to pay for our meal. This experience left a sour taste in my mouth, as it felt like we were not given the service that we deserved, especially for the amount we paid.
Although the food was nice, it was not cheap, and as a paying customer, I expected better. The place needs a deep clean, and the staff need intensive training to ensure customers are attended to, with basic hygiene practices carried out. As a result of this experience, I'm not sure if I would return to this restaurant anytime soon, maybe in 1-2 years, once they have addressed the problems with the waiting staff and...
