SOLO TRAVELLER FOR 1 NIGHT 1ST APRIL 2019 😊 This is a pub with rooms which is made clear on all the hotel 🏩 booking apps. I arrived at approximately 6 - 6:30pm on Monday April 1st. Check in was in the bar which is normal for this type of accommodation. Having said that, I was seen in less than 5 minutes by a very nice young lady. She showed me to my room & even offered to carry my overnight bag. I was expecting a basic double room. So imagine my complete surprise when the young lady opened the door to reveal not a standard generic double bed. But no!! I was going to be a princess 👸 for the night in a proper old 4 poster bed. The room was spotless, there wasn't a spec of dust anywhere. The bathroom didn't have a bath 🛀, however there was a nice large (for me anyway. I'm 5' 2" tall) walk in shower 🚿, great for me as I do have a problem getting in & out of a bath 🛀. All the linens (bedded, towels etc) where beautifully clean too. There was a beverage tray with plenty of tea 🍵, coffee ☕, sugars & milk. The WiFi in my room gave me a good signal strength so I could have surfed the web, done FB (which I did, but only to let friends & family know I'm safe I say COULD have surfed the net of I'd managed to stay awake 😊 I'm on a considerably large amount of pain killers, especially at night, due to the variety of severe pain conditions I retired to bed 🛏 around 7pm. The bed was so comfy. I then watched First look Hollyoaks on E4. Changed to BBC to watch Eastenders. No idea what happened as the next thing I knew it was 4.30am & I needed the loo 🚽. I got back into bed again & my alarm ⏰ was going off - 8.30am. I can honestly say it was the best night's sleep I've had in any accommodation, (& I've travelled extensively). Shows that you can't hear any noise from the pub/bar or road. Very peaceful. Breakfast was charged extra, which was more than acceptable. I ordered 2 rashers of bacon 🥓 🥓 & a fried egg 🍳 with a cup of coffee ☕. The cost of the breakfast was £5 regardless of what you had. A "cereal 🥣 & milk. Being a diagnosed with celiac disease approximately 2 1/2 years ago I always have the same thing. When my food arrived the plate 🍽 was lovely & clean, as too was the cutlery 🍴. The egg was nicely 🍳 fried (very clean with no crispy bits. The yolk was done to perfection... I cut into it & it was just right side of soft. If I thought the egg was perfect when I moved it to 1 side, as it was served on top of the bacon. What can I say about it. Anyone who knows me, knows that bacon 🥓 🥓🥓 is just about my favourite meat 🥩 (fave is belly pork 😂), so I do know my bacon!!! I was not disappointed at all 💕!!! There was plenty of fat (lovely to see it left on). It was nice & thick too. So once again it was cooked perfectly. My compliments go to the chef. Check out went smoothly as I had paid for the room at check-in. At checkout I ordered my breakfast & advised of celiacs disease to avoid cross contamination. I travel to Shrewsbury on a regular basis as my daughter, son-in-law & 17 months old granddaughter (1st & only one 😂 she's said) & have stayed in a few places. I do believe that from now on as long as they have a room available I will be booking to stay here all the time from now on. In fact I've booked again for June for 2 nights. I'm going to have a look at the new Primark in Birmingham with the daughter & granddaughter. Daughter wants to see the Disney Café that's there. It's a late birthday treat (I will of course be providing feedback on that one). I'll be paying for my breakfasts at check-in, the same time as paying for the room. Prior to my first visit I wasn't really sure about breakfast. I am now. I look forward to staying here again in June, and this time it'll be 3 days & 2 nights. So that's 3 breakfasts with that wonderful bacon. I'm really looking forward to my return visit. I will of course be giving updated review. As I do with any repeat visits. I always try to fair & unbiased reviews regardless. I tell it like it is, if it's good I say so, but I'll also be honest if there's something bad.

We went here for a bite to eat and a glass of wine on a Saturday lunchtime. It is dog friendly for well behaved dogs which is something we had searched on maps beforehand as we had a dog with us. They did also provide a fresh bowl of water for our dog too. The place had both brightly lit areas as well as more dimly lit tables too. You order drinks from the bar at the front. You order food from by the kitchen area at the side. We ordered 3 of the 'small plates', the brief bites, the pate of the week, the cod goujons, and a portion of chips to share between 2 of us. After ordering we were told they didn't have and brie bites available so we chose to have 2 lots of the cod. I did feel that it would have been helpful to have known what was available that day as some people may have changed their choice from what they have paid for. I had to wait for my daughter to come back from the other bar from ordering drinks to sort the change of choice. The food came fairy quickly was absolutely delicious and very well presented. The wine was really good too, and nicely chilled. We really enjoyed it all, and the atmosphere in the venue too. The pub was quiet when we went in but it became very busy fairy soon after. The pub is situated in a pedestrianised side street in the centre of Shrewsbury. I would definitely visit again.

Stayed recently for an overnight business trip. Warmly welcomed on arrival and shown to my room. The hotel is in the town and has no parking provided so it was a walk from a car park to get there. The room was generally clean, however it was a bit dusty around the edges of the room and there was some mould on the bathroom ceiling. It bugs me when I find that in a hotel as it's a quick fix to remove with some spray and shows a lack of effort when it comes to cleaning. Didn't have food there as I was going out for food with friends, however on return they had an open mic night in the bar. The atmosphere was pretty good and we enjoyed a game of pool there. After going to bed, I struggled with the heat. My room didnt have an external window (it looked.into the corridor) so couldn't get any ventilation. Also, the pillar fan in the wardrobe was broken, so had little sleep in the heat. If they addressed the issues above, this would be a good hotel in a great location
