The Coffee Mill — Restaurant in England

They did decaf, which was a positive. And the cakes looked good. We saw some good looking scones being served to others, and maybe the savoury food is good. Maybe it was an off day. I don't like to judge adversely on one visit. But the coffee was not prepared by a quality barista. When you are a couple of doors down from Bean loved you really need to use staff that are capable of doing the same high quality coffees. The staff didn't instill confidence, but it is not likely their fault as they were mostly school or college students getting some pocket money on a weekend. The lemon drizzle cake was not a lemon drizzle, it was a sponge cake with a hint of lemon flavouring in the buttercream. 4 of us ordered food and I ordered a chicken dinner. When the waitress brought mine she said Pork dinner, so i replied no i have ordered chicken, she said sorry yes it is chicken not Pork. So i started to eat it and thought it was strange that i had apple sauce with it. Surprise surprise it was Pork. I told the waitress she apologised and i waited a further 10 mins for my chicken dinner. It came back and unbelievably it was Pork again! I then said not to bother making me a chicken dinner we had waited long enough and everybody else had finished theirs. But then to insult my intelligence and dig a bigger hole for themselves they came back and said the first meal was chicken. Maybe just accepting your mistake would have been better....

We’ve eaten here a few and it’s been fine. We ate from the late afternoon menu on this occasion; we ordered an apple crumble for afters. We finished our sandwich and muffin; no one came to clear and bring sweet. This wasn’t really the problem, I would have been happy to go and ask. The real problem was the staff were cleaning up and not paying attention to customers. Worse than that, the two members of staff both emptied and wiped down the bins; neither one of them washed their hands afterwards!! Completely unacceptable and against health and safety regulations. These people have served us food. We didn’t bother with the crumble; we just paid and left. We will definitely not...
