What a Fabulous picturesque place 🥰to Visit For Lunch or a Refreshing Drink 🍹🍹🍺 ..Before setting off Down the Hill into Looe & Polperro 😍....we Decided on just Drinks as we had had a Fabulous Brunch in the previous Town of Looe. Although the walk down is Long it's very Enjoyable , Lots if Quaint Little shops to pick up a Souvenir and Several cafes to Enjoy Refreshments or pick up a Pastie or Cake or Ice Cream to munch on whilst walking. So Parking for 3 hours is £6.00 and is Change only So carrying Change in the Car a must...But you can get change from a change station in the car park....Toilets are best visited if stopping to Eat Etc as One Toilet we saw Here was 50 pence each 😯 too Expensive for a Family......There are Bed & Breakfast places , Hotels or places to rent.....Sea food can be Purchased along the Harbour....But if your just wanting a Great Beach here is not it ,The Beach is Small although it has a cave to Explore or a few Rocks to Climb and maybe a paddle . We Enjoyed the Experience as we hadn't Been for so Long all in all an Interesting Great Historic Day Out 🌞🙂🥰

I've been visiting Polperro for years, and The Crumplehorn has changed hands several times during that period. Unfortunately, I'm sad to say that it has been in decline. In the past, the meals felt homemade, with care and attention to detail, but now they seem more basic, likely for the sake of quick turnaround. The place has lost some of its charm. The water wheel, which has been out of action for years, is a noticeable loss. Given that The Crumplehorn is the first place you see when entering Polperro, you'd think restoring it would be a priority, but I understand it might be a challenging project. Overall, the food is okay, the selection of beers is good, and its location is perfect for a pint before heading into the village.

The bus to Polperro is a nice ride and the steep walk down the valley to the harbour testing for older folk. That said there are benches and public toilets. On return the Crumplehorn is a good stop for a swift. The upper bar was open and the steps inside difficult for mobility impaired, however the upper door is much easier (a sign advising this would be appreciated). On our visit the one barmaid whizzed between serving drinks and delivering food to tables, as well as clearing down and cleaning tables. She worked really hard and deserves recognition (with a Madri) for her shift. The food was standard fayre and the portion good. A short walk across the road to the bus stop is an advantage.

Just spent the morning in Polperro and thought we would finish it off with lunch at the Crumplehorn. We had popped in for a drink previously and were impressed with the ambience and previous reviews. This was our last day on holiday in the area (Looe) and thought the meal would be something special for my 82 year old mother, wife and 21 year old son. We ordered at the bar requesting 2 King Prawn Curries, a vegetable curry and a fish pie, all advertised as home made. After waiting for 40 minutes (with no previous warning) and seeing others served who entered after us, I asked whether our meal would be forthcoming since our parking ticket was nearing its end time. I was told it was on its way. A few minutes later the meals arrived. The prawn curries were a huge disappointment. At £13.50 each I would expect something of reasonable quality. Whilst the runny sauce was tasty it contained nothing other than what I would describe as shrimps, no more than 7 in number. It reminded me of a very cheap microwave meal. The rice was on a par with Uncle Ben's instant boil in a bag. The homemade fish pie was very tasty although appeared to lack the advertised prawns. The vegetable curry was as advertised (contained some vegetables) although again let down by the rice. I would have also expected a naan or poppadom and some side chutney for the price. The only plus side was the real ale which was excellent. I did raise our disappointment with the member of staff at the bar when I went to pay and was told that she would mention it to the chef! Unfortunately I did not have time to make more of an issue since by this time our 3 hour parking ticket was expiring and we had to get away. Having seen the other food coming out, the ciabattas and other basic food looked good. I suspect that the 'pub grub' is standard but steer away from the more exotic options and expect to wait for ages even though it didn't appear to be...

We booked a meal here for the family, as they were here on holiday. I do love this place, quirky and friendly. We were directed to our table, which we had reserved. Unfortunately the window sill was literally covered in very dozy wasps(approx 30 of them) I did go up to the bar to let them know but we were informed that they knew of the situation and the wasps have been treated and wouldn't bother us. I asked if they could be removed as it was quite off putting while we were eating and was told yes they could but they would just come back. I then asked if we could be moved and then was told they could get a dustpan and brush and sweep them off the window sill. We still weren't keen on sitting so close as we had children with us and I asked if we could move tables a little further away from the window ( there were 2/3 tables vacant). That was agreed and I helped move a couple of tables together. It was a shame that this wasn't sorted previously as they were aware of the situation with the wasps and the restaurant wasn't busy that particular evening. But I must say the specials we ordered were really delicious and we would return again for food. I would have given 5 stars if it hadn't been...
