Let me firstly say I use this bakery all the time and I’ve never had a problem. I spend up to £25 every time I go in and again no problem at all. However I purchased a sponge cake in a box the other day and when we got it back it was undercooked The two bottom layers Were Like dough rather than like sponge So I returned it thinking they would take a look and admit it was undercooked.

This however was not the case the junior lady asked me what was wrong which I explained it was undercooked however the senior lady interrupted our conversation stating I was not going to get a refund and I had to take goods in exchange without actually inspecting the cake. This I thought would be the minimum requirement if I took in a cake that was undercooked there was another cake which was exactly the same in the cabinet which I declined. I then did receive a refund from the senior lady by an extremely bad grace as if I’d actually done Something wrong by taking it back in I would like to say again that I have had very good items from this bakery but the customer service today from the senior lady was poor and maybe looking at the item and listening to what my complaint was Rather than interrupting the junior sales assistant, this poor response will not stop me from purchasing from here but if this kind of thing happens...

Pies - all flaky pastry except 2, homity is delicious as is the steak n kidney which has the most flavoursome gravy. The chicken pie used to be good when it was oval and had a good amount of filling - now its round and tiny amount of filling- avoid.Avoid traditional pasties- stodgy pappy filling. Vegan sausage roll- well done trying- but it's a failure- tasteless.. did you consult with a vegan?! Pizzas are very tasty. Try the mince pies, battenburg, portland doughbuns. Filled rolls are great value, cakes - recommend Apple and custard turnovers, custard slice and lardy. A lot of the cakes are very synthetic ... choose carefully! Fantastic food, but if you buy anything from a shop made by this company, it does not give heating or storage instructions. It gives you every ingredient and intolerance, but no instructions on whether you can reheat or storage. May I suggest to this company that not everybody has an allergy, give heating instructions, not that it matters for me, I shall not be buying your food anymore if you're only pandering to people with alleged
