Lovely staff, really friendly and helpfull, actually brought my Guinness to the table for me. Ordered a piri pirir chicken jacket and my wife said it was definately tasty but seemed a little stingy on the chicken and would have liked a bit more actual chicken. The sauce was really tasty though and overall it was enjoyed. I had a fish finger sandwich (because I'm ever so posh haha) the bread was clearly cheap white bloomer as it was a little crumbly and the fish fingers themselves where skinny more batter than fish wich was a shame as you need thick decent fish fingers in a fish finger sandwich but that's not what you get. The chips you get with it where faultless and really tasty. Minor points but if I was the chef reading this it would def be something I'd bear in mind. Overall very pleasant lunch time and very clearly a warm and friendly family pub... 8/10 in my eyes. If your in town stop in you...
Read moreTook the family for a roast Dinner with all the trimmings, brought extra roast pots, Yorkshire pudding and pigs in blankets. The staff were friendly and helpful however the food wasn't cooked fresh. It tasted as though the food had been cooked the day previous and put in the microwave for a reheat. The veg was tough and rubbery, gravy thin, potatoes powdery inside and rubbery outside, Yorkshires greasy, meat had a funny taste, Generally poor quality. The prices were reasonable and I understand in some resrespe you pay for what you get but all three adults didn't eat thier dishes and the children left just over half. The extras weren't touched. The staff were understanding and apologetic and offered us an alternative however the meal was already ruined. We cancelled desserts paid a fraction and left....
Read moreMy son and I stayed at the Junction on Saturday and Sunday the 23rd and 24th of April. We were welcomed by the Landlord and shown our room. He apologised immediately for the noise from the patrons, football was on the TV. We had booked a table and were shown to one in a much quieter corner. Our meal was good, not the best we've ever had, but certainly very far from the worst. The big downside to staying overnight, especially if you need an early start, is the very loud noise from patrons who sit outside the back door to the pub, in the car park, and right outside the rooms, which are in the old stable block. This, I think, needs addressing. The rooms are clean but tired, needing some updating and some TLC. Overall we enjoyed our stay, and would definitely recommend...
