The Devonshire Arms — Restaurant in England

Unfortunately quite a disappointing first visit to the Devonshire Arms which is a shame as it was a birthday celebration for my 6 year old. I ordered alcohol and when brought to the table got asked for ID (I'm 27 and my 6 year old was sat with me) unfortunately I don't carry my ID as I don't usually get asked now. All their signs said 'challenge 21" I definitely don't look under 21 certainly not with a 6 year old daughter so was confused. Anyway, the girl that was on the bar (also who bought the drinks and refused to give me mine) took my drink, didn't offer me a replacement just brought me my money for a refund. My partner came back from having some fresh air outside to be told I'd been refused my drink and was quite frustrated so offered to nip home (thankfully not too far away) to get my ID. Once I'd got my ID I went back to the bar to reorder my drink, she checked my ID went to the back where the kitchen is and bought my drink out so wasn't made fresh, that's fine it just wasn't very cold when I'd got it. Her whole attitude during our visit really ruined what should of been a nice meal. The food was mediocre, some meals weren't upto standards so again added to the evening. The supervisor Graham was lovely, couldn't be more apologetic for everything and said he'd relayed the information back to the kitchen manager and then onto management, free desert was offered but as we had birthday cake we politely declined, Graham then said that when/if we visit again then to ask for him and he will be our server throughout the...

We booked a meal here for my grand daughters 6th birthday, I dropped off her birthday cake earlier in the day to the supervisor Graham who was lovely and told us he would be happy to bring over her surprise cake. When we got to the pub our table had been rearranged....not a problem, we took to our table and ordered on the app. The bar maid brought over the drinks, took a look at my daughter in law , asked for ID, but she didn't bring any as she is 27, never mind challenge 21....the barmaid took away the drink, no explanation and no offer of I will bring something else perhaps. My son had stepped outside and on his return and of hearing this , went home to get her ID. My daughter in law then went back to the bar and was given the drink that had previously been poured some 10 mins earlier which was now warm. When the meals came they were not cooked to how we had requested (steaks)..., no one came to ask if the meals were OK. We had at this point decided to go home...the supervisor was clearing tables and we explained how it had soured the celebratory meal.....he kindly offered us free desserts which we declined as we had birthday cake to eat. We collected her cake and came home. We came on Mother's day also my Sons birthday. I booked a table for 4 for 7pm its a place my partner & i live to eat at. When we arrived the place was quiet there was no table reserved but plenty to choose from I asked if possible cud we sit at the big oval table I was told no, as they were expecting a group of 6 people although it did not say it was reserved,not long after we were sat at out small table a couple came in on their own & sat at the table I had asked for. We then went on to order our food my sons girlfriend ordered double chips with her fish we both ordered the fish wen they came out the fish was burnt to a crisp ive had fish here many times but this was bad it was embarrassing she has the same amount of chips I did, i did complain but the man said it was all correct & walked away I called the lady who brought out the food she agreed that the chips on the plate was not a double portion that i had paid for so she went to get more chips we made the best of our evening that we had looked forward to but my son & girlfriend said it was their first & last visit very disappointing as me & my partner often eat there but on this occasion was not worth...
