I live in Southern California. In 1988 I was traveling by car with a friend all over the UK. We were in the area, it was getting late, and I saw a sign that said Ross-on-Wye, and since my last name is Ross I wanted to check it out. We walked into the Eagle Inn, and I told the lady my last name, and we were needing a place to stay for the night. She told me to sit down, she got on the phone and said she had one of the Ross boys here and he needed a room. She set us up at the Eddie Cross house up the hill. She brought us a couple of pints of some tasty ale, and that she would "shout us up when it's ready". I had no idea what she was talking about. A little while later she had us eat a huge, killer roast beef dinner with her family in their kitchen. It was great, and unexpected. She gave me a place mat to give to my dad from the pub. A great experience that I won't forget, and her amazing kindness that I will appreciate always.

Great town pub, usually busy. You get sport on TVs during the big events. Regular live gigs. Big outside area for fresh air/smokers. Prices are very reasonable, rather go here than weatherspoons.

Usual tap beers and a couple of real ales available. Staff were friendly and polite. Nice pleasant place with a cosy feel to it. Decently decorated. Enjoyed my visit.

Popped in for a quick pint,Don't think the place does food, but shows all the big sporting events,It's a sports bar basically,so come here to watch the big matches and sporting events, and go to the King Charles 2(just a few doors up the road)if you want some good food, replying to Stephen Gutierrez, previous owners tried it as a food pub and for whatever reason did not last long, this owner is trying it as a "sportsbar"showing all the live sporting events, like i said the King Charles 2 serves food but no sport,The Eagle,no food but live sport,so hopefully the two pubs will have a beneficial arrangement(I.e King Charles sends customers to The Eagle for a big match, and The Eagle sends customers to King Charles...

Absolutely atrocious. Over an hour and a quarter wait for food after ordering. Then the dishes had parts of the meals missing. Sausages, toast and black pudding missing off the breakfast - how is that possible!!!! We were told that the person taking our order had taken the order down incorrectly but we were not offered an apology or the missing items, even though we had paid for the larger meal. Food was then really poor. Really rude staff who were completely dismissive of us when we queried the missing items and meals. The red headed bloke was quite nice but the other staff were horrendous. Avoid...
