The Fisherman's arm's is another good old public house that's upscaled itself into a Sports bar/ Gastro pub and is located on the corner of Seaveiw Street and Wardall street in Cleethorpes. It's a clean place with a cosy comfortable atmosphere. It's layout is still mainly old in style with fixed upholstered seating around the edges with tables and chairs, there's a few free standing tables with movable chairs as well. It has background music and some television's, the bar staff are very friendly and happy to help and provide the table service. The menu is quite broad and caters for most tastes. It has a good range of draught beer, wine's and spirits on offer. It entrance is wheelchair friendly and it has it's own restrooms which have recently been refurbished, however they don't lend themselves to wheelchair users. Payment by credit cards are acceptable here. They have a 5* food hygiene rating. Food review Jan 2019. I ordered Haddock and chips with mushy peas and a pot of tea. My meal arrived after a short wait,I really enjoyed the chips here a good sized portion of Hand cut crispy chips, the peas were nice as was the tartar sauce which also came with the meal. The fish was o.k. and had nice tasting thin crispy batter, the fish was white in colour but quite moist and lacking in flavour. The price of £13.95 I felt was quite expensive given the size and the quality of the fish. Not a bad meal by any standard but not a really notable one either, a better quality piece of fish would have made a world of difference to this meal. Its still got lots going for it in terms of choice of food, it's atmosphere, facilities and service making it a decent place to go for a meal. This is another place where the steaks have been...
Read moreOverpriced for a basic pub it is not a restaurant!my partner and I had steak but weren,t told it was peppered and has she can,t eat peppered meat it was inedible, the fish and chips used to be good but now soggy batter is the order of the day and we now go elsewhere for much better food. The drinks are overpriced and was recently charged £6-25 for a pint of Guinness and a small bottle of non alcoholic lager!n.b. these prices are from 4 years ago so not sure of present prices. At this stage I would point out I only drank Guinness in there because the cask ales almost never available and very poor when they serve them and ad a c.a.m.r.a.card member know a little about cask ales. The pub is supposed to offer loyalty cards but never have any when you ask!meaning they charge full price irrespective. The language of the clientele at the weekend can be colourful and industrial. I have frequented the fish for 44 years And am sad to see it deteriorating more than any other establishments I know. Rating 2 out of 10 and that is mainly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI booked a table yesterday (28th Feb) for my birthday meal for 5pm for me and my Son. When I booked there was no mention of a time limit on the table, but I assume most tables are for 1hr30/2 hours. No sooner had we sat down to look at the menu, a member of staff came over and told us there was a quick turn around on the table and the next booking was 6pm! She asked if that was OK, but I couldn't really say no and go somewhere else on a Friday night and expect to get a table!
By the time we had decided what we wanted to eat and drink and waited for the food to come out it was already 5.40pm. We had to throw out food down our necks to be done for 6pm. My son had ordered a dessert which comes as part of his meal but I had to cancel it and ask for the bill as we felt very unwelcome.
It's a huge shame, as I usually enjoy eating here and this is why I had decided to book it as my birthday treat. I had been looking forward to it all day at work, but this experience ruined my day. It's not somewhere I shall...
