This café restaurant cannot be recommended enough honestly thought that the service was impeccable. Was so impressed with the food, staff and ambience that not only did we go there for a lunch and then afternoon smoothie but visited again for breakfast the following morning . I found the manager to tell them how fantastic the service the previous day was and asked her to pass that on to the staff . The menu is fresh , simple and presented well . I should add perfect poached eggs . I asked for something a little different , a bit of a combination of two dishes and nothing was too much trouble for them. When sat in there, I saw nothing but professional waiters and waitresses smiles all round. I asked for a smoothie recommendation and the lady behind the counter was really helpful gave her opinion and even said if I didn’t like it come back and she would swap it. You can tell they have regular people going there as many of the customers they knew by name which is testament to how Lovely and welcoming the café is. If you’re visiting rest, please take the time to go there even if it’s just for a cake which they have plenty of home-made delicious cake’s or for lunch or breakfast. I promise you won’t be...
Read moreAt last, real loose tea that is not just the fruity stuff! Teapots small but they will give you another pot with hot water. Cakes good quality but very pricey - surprising in these hard times. Couldn't see a 'offer/deal for pensioners or students so I guess this place is marketed to the well-heeled. Decor is nice, airy & in a good location but as is called The Green House, I was hoping for a plethora of plants & a gardeney theme. It does have a Cosy Corner with a couple of power points for online workers, just brush yourself off when you leave as sofas seem to be in their 'shedding season'. Some staff really helpful, some too young to care & some positively officious! Choice of playlist is enjoyable for the majority of the type of customers that would frequent here. Not for young guests so those attending the college next door or accross the road need to walk a little further for their lunch. Outdoor seating well placed for people watching & of course centre town...
Read moreWe have previously visited a few months ago and had a lovely brunch of coffee and pancakes. So we returned yesterday expecting the same…but we’re thoroughly disappointed. The service- the waitress (with the reddish hair) was completely uninterested, barely spoke, and completely soaked the highchair when we asked her to clean it down as they were all filthy and sticky- she looked baffled that I asked for a cloth/spray as it was so dirty and was more than willing to clean it myself.
We had two luke warm coffees to go with our ‘bacon rolls’ which were awful for £4 each! There were two tiny rashers of bacon lost in a big dry batch bought bap, again delivered to our table with zero talking. We try to support local but for almost £20 for two small warm coffees and two almost non existent bacon rolls, we will go back to Costa next time. Such a shame as it’s a lovely building and we had such a lovely time when we first visited but we...
