The second time we've visited The Lookout. It's in a fantastic location overlooking the harbour and the sea. We had a coffee and a very generous slice of ginger cake, which was very tasty. However the let down was when we reached the top of the steps to go into the cafe'. Part of the outside area floor, tables, chairs and handrail were covered in bird dropping with the startling culprits roosting above the area. Thankfully there was lots of unoccupied tables inside otherwise there was no way we would have bought food. The roosting bird problem really needs to be addressed as soon as possible for hygiene and health risk reasons.

Lovely place to visit for a coffee and watch the waves. The staff were lovely and the prices were reasonable. Had a hot chocolate and a large slice of chocolate cake which was good. We chose to sit outside and there were blankets available if you needed them. Will definitely go back again. In the marina building there are several different retailers that look as though they are worth exploring. But, I think that The Lookout has the best view.

Not bad place with a limited range of food at a reasonable price, but the breakfasts are only available until midday. The drinks are a little on the dear side. Views of the harbour and coast down to Hartlepool are great and you can spend some time on the terrace watching the starlings help themselves to leftovers.

Staff were rude and didn't seem able to crack a smile. I was visiting the area from 300 miles away went to see the life boat over the way afterwards thought I'd have a coffee and enjoy the view of the sea. After a 5min wait in there to be served I was the only one waiting. The server started the interaction with "yeah" not even looking at me. That was the only interaction until I got the price. I said thank you and got a grunt in reply. Outside I was sitting at a table looking out at the sea and one of the staff knocked into me making me spill a bit of my coffee I'm still waiting on the apology I got the filthy look though. When I'm next there visiting my family I won't be...

Visited yesterday lunchtime as we've eaten here before and the food was good, however yesterday was a totally different experience. The food was expensive for what we had a wedge of quiche £5.00?? My husband opted for the steak and ale pie and we shared a portion of chips two hot drinks and the total was £16.55! That is a lot of money for a coffee shop. However that isn't the major gripe, we opted to sit on the terrace as the weather was very nice, only to discover that their are birds in the roof above what happened next, you've guessed my husband got pooped on The floor was covered in poop so we asked for take out cartons and left, an all together unpleasant...
