I was recommended this place by friends who had been to eat there during the latter part of 2016. So some friends and I thought we'd give it a try. The Old Sessions House has a cosy feel to it if a little too dark in some of the eating areas. The menu options are impressive if a little overpriced of you're able to eat anything. Being a Coeliac on arrival I asked if they had a gluten free menu to which I was told "no but I can tell you what is gluten free" we were then taken to our table, one of the darker ones. The waitress passed us the menu's and said she'd be back to take our drinks order shortly. After a 'short' while 10 minutes or so of browsing the menu the waitress returned and asked if we were ready to order. Obviously I wasn't as I was left in the dark (literally) as to what I could get. She gave me the option of 4 main dishes from the entire menu, so no starters or deserts for me. Straight after learning what I could order I was asked if I was ready to order. Now, although I only had a choice of 4 dishes I still wanted to read what the dishes were and not go from the name so asked her to come back. A drinks order was taken and when they arrived we ordered our food. I opted for sirloin steak, medium rare. I joked at this point that it was so dark so as you couldn't see what condition the steak was! My friends ordered a plank each and were going to share. Their planks arrived and I have to say looked rather nice. My small bowl of chips arrived just prior to my steak, mushroom and tomato. (notice the singular) the food looked a little lost on the plate to be honest but I was looking forward to tucking in. Even in the dim light I could see a line of gristle running through the steak and when I cut into it I'd personally say the steak was more rare than medium rare as it was a fleshy red colour all the way through. Despite that I started to eat it, I took out the line of gristle and the un-edible line of fat from the outer. All in all the steak was chewy and didn't have a great taste. However, my friends meals were apparently very nice, tasty, filling, with a variety on the plank. The only comment they had to make was, everything on the plank needs to be eaten with bread and they found the wedges of bread a little to thick. The overall rating I'd give my meal is a 3 out of 10. The overall rating for menu options for coeliacs 1 out of 10. The only reason I'm giving a 3 star rating is because of my friends meals. Personally, being a coeliac I wouldn't...
Read moreTHE NEW LANDLORD OF THE OLD SESSIONS, KNUTSFORD IS THE MOST DESPICABLE, UNPLEASANT, RUDE AND ABHORRENT PERSON I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS IN THE PUB TRADE.
IT WAS HIS OPENING NIGHT AND AS LOCAL PEOPLE WE WENT ALONG TO SUPPORT THE CHANGE OF MANAGEMENT IN ONE OF OUR MOST POPULAR BARS IN OUR LOVELY TOWN. THERE WAS NOT ONE REGULAR CUSTOMER, IT WAS FULL OF OUT OF TOWN, STUDENT TYPE CUSTOMERS DOING SHOTS AND SCREAMING OUT LOUD LIKE THEY HAD BEEN HIRED FOR THE NIGHT. WHEN OUR FRIENDS CAME TO JOIN US HE REFUSED ENTRY TO A LADY (WHO IS IS THE MANAGER OF ANOTHER LOCAL BAR!) BECAUSE HE SAID ONE HIS BAR STAFF HAS A GRIEVANCE WITH HER!!!! THIS MAN IS NEW TO THE TOWN, DOES NOT EVEN KNOW HIS BAR STAFF YET AND KNOWS NO LOCAL PEOPLE. APART FROM THE GROUP OF "HIRED OUT" SCREAMING STUDENTS THE BAR WAS EMPTY AND HE REFUSED ENTRY TO A LOCAL CUSTOMER, WE SAID WE WOULD ALL LEAVE IF SHE COULDN'T JOIN US AND HE SAID THAT'S FINE!!! WHEN I TRIED TO REASON WITH HIM HE SAID IT WAS NONE OF MY BUSINESS!!! SO THE 10 OF US LEFT.
HOW SAD THAT A RUDE, DESPICABLE MAN FROM LIVERPOOL WITH ABSOLOUTLY NO MANNERS, CHARISMA OR ANY UNDERSTANDING OF SOCIAL AWARENESS AND ABSOLUTELY NO INTELLIGENCE, HAS NOW BEEN ENSCONCED IN OUR MOST CENTRAL BAR. JUST WAIT AND WATCH THIS BUSINESS FAIL....WHY DO PEOPLE LIKE HIM HAVE TO EXIST, THEY JUST...
Read moreI guess the company has not paid the bill, again! No food, no drink, no music, however, one bag of crisps and a handful of nuts, wow, what a scrumptious offering! If your looking for entertainment this is the place to be, i.e. Faulty Towers! If your desperate for a drink, cut it short with "what have you got" as its easier than asking what they haven’t. This is a prime example as to how not to run a public house and indeed shows the inadequacy of the business owner's. This boozer used to be a people hub, good crack, good drinks, food etc although it's really gone too, well, I'm sure you can make your own assumptions. It's such a shame as the staff are keen to want the establishment to strive and be successful however without the basics i.e. drink and food how can you run a pub! This lot couldn't run a tap! Do us all a favour and hand back the keys before Court Enforcement shuts the place for good! Please Note! Photographs are from previous...
