The food was excellent, but in my opinion they have crammed too many tables in together and they are too close. It was difficult for the waiter to get behind me to the next table. The noise was overwhelming and I had to put earplugs in. As the customer volume increased they increased the volume of the music and so the voices went loaded etc. It was not comfortable and I could not have a conversation with my companion. The bill was a farce. It was incorrect initially as it added on 3 lots of poppadoms and chutney trays. When that was corrected the 10% service element was higher than 10% and then the total of the bill was somehow higher than the bill plus the service charge. I don't know if that was deliberate or a till error, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt as they did try to correct it. The waiter did eventually charge correctly after I calculated the correct...

The restaurant is lovely, the food not so much. We had looked on-line at the menu and we went with an idea of what we wanted. The menu was very different to the one online. Apparently the Hale menu is different to Knutsford. It's well overpriced for nothing more than average food. When our bill arrived it was almost £80 OVER what we expected! They had tried to charge us for an extra meal at 26.50, plus an extra 2 naans, plus a whopping 20% service charge! They sorted the bill when it was queried.

The Elumas lamb curry is described as slow cooked lamb in a hot coconut curry sauce with roasted spices, it had no hint of coconut and was poorly spiced, it was like a cheap lamb stew.

The chicken "tikka"saag had no tikka too it.

I'm no expert on Sri Lankan cuisine, but it wasn't anything special. I would have expected better...

Had a great lovely meal, food was really taste.

However, I do have a couple of issues that the manager/owner who was really lovely needs to deal with

On arrival we were sat and handed a menu. Whilst reading the menu popadoms and chutney tray was delivered to our table. Never been here before so we all thought these were FOC. No they were added to the bill.

When taking our order we were suggest 2 rices, and a nan bread. We actually said we won’t eat too much rice so 1 would be great plus we would have the gun powder chips. 1 bowl of rice was delivered to our table but 2 rices were added to the bill. I question it and they told be the bowl We receive had 2 potions in it.

The gun powder chip came late.

Hence the low star for service.

If these few points don’t happen I would without doubt give a 5...

On a recent visit the food was delicious, though the service had some downsides. We ordered a range of dishes, including vegan small curries and larger meat/fish mains. The food was all delicious, with tasty chutneys served with poppadoms. The service was a bit inconsistent. The staff seemed friendly, but also consistently failed to bring any tap water to the table on request, even after a range of attempts. It did seem that the aim was to push for alcoholic drinks sales instead. Other than that relatively minor issue, this was a nice restaurant. Definitely on the pricier side.

We stumbled across Sigiriya by chance, and what a find it was for us! From the greeting at the door to our departure everything was excellent. The staff were attentive but never intrusive, the atmosphere was welcoming, modern and friendly, the menu was varied and interesting, and the price point just about right for a midweek lunch date together. The food was just exceptional and we will definitely be returning with friends next time we're in town. Thank you Team Sigiriya for a very nice afternoon.
