The Olde Cobbler — Restaurant in England

Food is tasty and a very good menu selection. However we found service slow and lacking. It took well over 3 hours for us to have a 2 course meal and pay! (Luckily we had lots to talk about) but one drink in that time, no offer of whether we wanted another and lack of staff about to ask. I managed to get someone's attention and ask for a glass of water but it never came. Very little waiting staff present in the dining room. When we managed to get someone's attention to ask for the bill she never came back for payment (at this point we were the only people left in the dining room) so we went to the bar to wait a further 5 mins or so for someone to take our money. I also noticed other people struggling to see and get waiting staffs attention earlier on in the evening. No one came to check that everything was ok with our food. Luckily no issues with the food. There was a private function on which I expect was having an impact but really shouldn't as adequate staffing should...

Hi everybody, I booked a table for four adults to be seated at 12.45 Sunday lunch / roast dinner today . Arrived just before , but had a warm welcome by the staff which always goes down well. The lady showed us to a table which was situated near a large window and the sunshine was beaming down and it felt warm . Before sitting down we asked if we could sit somewhere else and she pleasantly obliged . Our drinks order was taken and menus given. Drinks arrived quickly and all was good . We soon ordered our Sunday roast 2no roast beef and 2no lamb shanks. Believe it or not our meals arrived about 5-10 mins later , the quickest ever in my experiences of eating out. 7 of us went for brunch. Prebooked a table but when we arrived it wasn't set up, no problem as it only took a couple of minutes for 2 tables to be pushed together but it was the start of dissapointing service. Waitress showed us to the table but then left as soon as she pointed it out to us with no explanation as to what, if any, options there were, no explanation as to how the brunch worked or where to go for the food & drinks. Hot drinks were on the bar in jugs, 2 of us separately had to let staff know that the flasks were empty. Another member of our party had to inform staff that the buffet was virtually empty. Took a while for them to restock it. Buffet food was nice but it was only on leaving did we see on another table that there were menus for other options other than the buffet that we could have...
