Was looking for somewhere to have lunch on a very busy day in midsummer, and found this friendly little restaurant away from the crowded harbour area, in a shopping street close to the parish church. I managed to get a table next to the window. Lovely friendly waitress who welcomed me as soon as I walked through the door, and polite and attentive service throughout my meal. It's a cosy and homely little place with comfy blue banquettes, lots of little ornaments, and flowers on the tables. There's another room upstairs, plus clean toilets and baby changing. The restaurant as a whole was very clean, with tables sanitised between customers. There's a well stocked bar with a good choice of beers, cider, gin, cocktails, and wine, as well as hot drinks. Ordered half a pint of the local Cornish Orchards cider, and it was really good and refreshing. The lunch menu included a wide choice of locally and freshly caught fish and seafood dishes, as well as burgers and a few vegetarian options. I had a bowl of clam and crab chowder, served with bread and a lemon slice. Flavourful and filling, with big chunks of crab meat, clams slightly chewy, lots of potato, leeks, peas and herbs. A simple but satisfying lunch, and very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend!

Really disappointed with this one as we spent a while reading reviews and razor clam fit the bill. However, the service was really strange, sat down by a waitress, just gave us menus, didn’t offer any water for table, didn’t come take our order, waited until we couldn’t wait any longer and had to tell her to come over, maybe she was new? We ordered the chowder and the seafood misto. Didn’t really state what fish it was but wasn’t really inspiring, salmon, bass and a haddock? Also a bit weird it comes with tartare sauce, fish like this should be in butter / capers etc Would have thought there would be something unique being in Cornwall. However Salmon was raw, waiter asked me what was wrong and proceeded to tell me salmon is like that, it’s eaten raw… (I don’t think so) and asked me whether I wanted it overcooked, no I just wanted it cooked. Took a while to come back, after they had to recook the same piece of fish, Partners chowder wasn’t enjoyable, didn’t look like it was cooked daily by the colour of it. Was quite busy, but it’s a tourist destination in the middle of summer, they should be prepared. Maybe it’s an off day fo them, Hope future diners have a better experience.

My friends and I had a really good lunch here yesterday! The crab sandwich was amazing, and the fish and chips were really tasty and fresh. We also had mussels in garlic sauce, which tasted incredibly fresh and were complemented perfectly by the sauce. For dessert, we had the Eton Mess with strawberries 🍓. The strawberries were so fresh, sweet, and tangy—loved it! The service was excellent too; we totally recommend this place! The prices are very reasonable, especially considering we were in a really touristy and busy area. The restaurant is very clean as well. We didn’t need to book; we just walked in, but during busier seasons, you might need to book in advance, so make sure to double-check with them! If you just walk in for a tissue or tap water, be kind and buy something; otherwise, it’s better not to ask. There is a cheap shop across the street where you can get water and tissues if needed. 😉 Vă mulțumim! 🩵

Place seems to be nice and have good climax and reviews. We ordered 2 x portion of mussels and 1 x portion of mixed seafood selection + 2 glasess of white wine. Then we have to wait around 30 minutes until waiter approached us and said that unfortunately they are short off mussels this evening and got not even one portion of it. So we decided to go with 2nd portion of mixed seafood selection instead. Then when we received our meal, we did notice that other customers, which came to restaurant 10 minutes after us, got served a decent portion of mussels... As we were not happy about seafood selection, also upset that we didn't get mussels but someone else did, we asked waiter what is going on and why we didn't get mussels, she apologised and said it will reported to chef. He did approached us in a minute after and apologised for the situation - we asked why other customer being served with mussels, as clearly they came after us - he did respond that other customer was happy to be served with half portion... We asked him what he is going to do with this situation and he only apologised again - giving us no other option or discount, literally nothing - not very nice at all. Then we have been charged full bill for everything, even if we said we weren't happy about quality and amount of food served. The only good thing was a wine. Do not recommend this restaurant as clearly chef or other staff got no idea how to run restaurant and how to deal with customers. Very disappointed.

Recent update:

Received a message from restaurant director, Ovi - and below is my response:

Dear Ovi, As your chef said, he wasn't happy that waitress didn't informed him about this situation, so he can react instantly (maybe). Also his explanation was kind of convenient, from restaurant point of view, but represented a lack of creativity and right approach to the customer - first of all, waitress should proposed to us the same option, to utilize 1/2 portion of mussels, as you tried to serve to another customer, but was not even one question about that asked to us, so maybe we could've decide on our own - as I mentioned before, we did arrive to restaurant before the other customer, with rule ''first come, first serve'' - we should be asked what we want... In conclusion to above, your chef also failed, as he only apologized - instead he could offer us some extra, like small dessert (as gift) or maybe slight discount on existing bill. For me clearly that was a failure and inability to cooperate with customer, to show this little bit extra, which could made an exceptional effect. I believe there is no space for any additional conversation about above situation, as we already left Cornwall and back at home. I hope you can utilize this in the future to avoid similar story with another...

Good food, poor service. The manager/owner had a terrible attitude, acting like the customers owed him something. From the moment we walked in, to ordering, and even paying, the whole experience was unpleasant!

When it came to paying, I was shocked that the manager/owner, right in front of my friends, insisted I must pay the service charge because it’s not included in the menu prices! I had already selected “0 service charge” on the card machine, but when the bill came out and he noticed I hadn’t paid it, he repeated again that the menu prices don’t include service charge — and his tone was clearly unfriendly. I have lived in the UK for many years, and this was the first time in my life someone has demanded a tip from me face-to-face! It was both embarrassing and infuriating. The food is already over priced, and with service this bad, how could you expect us to pay extra?

To the owner, listen: for the service charge, either include it directly in the bill or don’t put any pressure on the customers. If customer choose to pay 0 service charge, please don't make any sound.

It’s such a shame that the manager/owner’s rudeness completely wastes the good ingredients and the skills of the chefs. If you’re planning to bring friends here, avoid this restaurant — unless you want to put them through an...
