After a last minute decision to have a roast lunch before leaving Truro, we found the Wig and Pen on Google. When we arrived we were shown to a quiet table ideal for two at the back of the pub. We ordered drinks, but the staff member told us there would be a bit of a wait as there was a large table about to order. We weren’t in a rush, so decided to wait. Fifteen minutes later we order two roast lunches. We didn’t have to wait too long for our meals which came out smelling and looking delicious. The vegetables were served separately. We can honestly say it was the best meal we had all weekend. The food was amazing, and our plates were cleared! Despite ringing two days in advance to reserve a table, when we arrived there were no details of the reservation, only two Front of House staff and no Cocktails Menu available. We ordered some Nibbles, but before we had finished them our Main Course arrived - this also happened to the couple on the table next to us - and if that wasn’t bad enough, our side dishes had been forgotten, and we had to wait while they were prepared. We had only ordered Chips and a House Salad, which surely should comprise of more than just Gem Lettuce, Carrots and a minimal amount of Tomato. Do you know how hard it is to get a 1 out of 5 ? It must be DISGUSTING. Recent visit, food arrived late for starters and it was luke warm. I could hear other diners complaining on the table next to me also. In this day and age it isn’t good enough that this place is operating at all. How could any restaurant serve disgusting cheap food at extortionate prices from a dirty kitchen. Is there even a proper chef there ?
